Wednesday ‘podge – Busy day but finding time to blog

1. I feel most energized when I run.

Sure, running is hell on my knees, it sucks in the summer, and it takes up time and energy. And sometimes I want to quit my run, cut it short. But when I have an active running schedule, my life is much better and I feel a renewed sense of self.

2. Where were you ten years ago?

Sadly, here. LOL. I had been working at FSU for two years and I was a newish mom. Ell was about a year old so my worries centered around weaning and learning the ropes of being a parent. Ash and I were still rock climbing but I had not started running just yet and I only had the one kid so my life wasn’t that busy yet.

3. July 17th is World Emoji Day. Do you use emojis? Which one’s your favorite? Your most used?

I only use them sometimes; I don’t speak entire conversations in them. One of my most used ones is the thumbs up because I hate being the person who says yeah or ok all the time. I’m fond of the one where the person is like “eesh, that’s not good.” See the circled one below.eesh

4. What song would you put on a wedding DO NOT PLAY list?

Paradise by the Dashboard Light by Meatloaf. Apparently people play this at weddings but I do not understand why. Maybe as a joke? He literally gets into a relationship quickly and then prays for the end of time so he can be out of it. I mean, how is this a wedding song??

5. What deserves less of your attention? More of your attention?

My kids definitely deserve more time. I do a lot for them but I know I could be a more involved and attentive mom.

I should probably spend less time on politics. It infuriates me and yet, I can’t stop reading.

6.  Insert your own random thought here.

Damn, it has been BUSY all morning. I had to stop by another building on campus to pick up a bunch of forms and then I have had meetings and various other things. I cannot believe it is already 11 o’clock! But I also love days like that because it means I’m moving along quickly and closer to getting home. And I have a ton to do there too: grocery shop, then run 3 miles, then go pick up some items I ordered to augment my kids’ camp dress up day Friday: Rock star theme!

  1. I enjoyed reading your hodgepodge, sounds like you are a very busy gal! I’m sad that Hodgepodge is going on break, just when I’m joining again…sad. Let me know if you participate in any other blog surveys like this. Cheers!
