1.What’s something you find extremely difficult that most people would say is simple?
Hmm, I guess I would say Math. Though, I can do lots of basic stuff. I just was not good at anything past pre-algebra. I should maybe also go with being unafraid of roller coasters. Some people think you can just “get over it” and still ride them but not me!
2. “And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow fast in movies I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.”
~F. Scott Fitzgerald
Does the season of summer make you feel this way? Elaborate.
Yes, in a way. I think it sounds a little odd to say each season has a “feel” but it is true. I truly feel the end of the school year. When I worked at a University, my year ended in April but then May was all end of school for the kids. June comes around and you have a new lease on life; you have more time and different summery activities. I think Fall is the same because by the end of Summer it feels like something should be changing again.
3. Pickles. Love ’em or no thank you? What’s your favorite type of pickle? What’s something you eat that definitely needs a pickle added?
Yes please! I like dill on a hamburger and bread and butter just for snacking on. Sweet pickles are tasty for that as well. I think something that for sure needs a pickle is a Cuban sandwich, though I don’t eat those often. I have seen a lot of dip recipes on Pinterest lately that call for pickles and I am thinking about trying one.
4. Tis the season…do you know any June brides? Are there any weddings on your summer calendar? What’s your favorite movie wedding?
I probably do know some; I was October so that’s always lingering in my head. No to any weddings upcoming. While a lot of my friends’ kids are graduated and starting their lives, we don’t have any engagements in our sphere. Favorite movie wedding? Hmm, that is a tough one. I honestly have no idea. My favorite fictional engagement though was Monica and Chandler on Friends.
5. June 1st is/was National Say Something Nice Day…say something nice here.
OK, let’s see – Thanks for reading my blog, any and all of you. I think we need to keeping blogging alive!
6. Insert your own random thought here.
I am easing into my summer break. Monday, I was bored. While I got some things done I needed to do, I didn’t exactly feel accomplished. Tuesday was a good day though. I walked a mile with my daughter, then got her and her friend off to the camp they’re volunteering at. Then, my son and I had planned to go up to the greenway and walk. From our parking lot to the next, we managed to get in a nearly four mile walk! It was nice; he’s not like my oldest, who at that age would not have been talkative at all. We had moments of comfortable silence as well as periods of chatting about what we saw around us, life, etc. He’s always been the even-keeled kid anyway. After our walk, we went into the store then I went outside to do a bit of tanning. I looked down at my legs about a week ago and thought I was unusually pasty. I have a reasonably tan skin tone but I was looking ghostly.
I sat in the sun for maybe 20 minutes (we do want to avoid skin cancer, you know) then my son helped me bag some leaves I’d raked and then we blew off the pool deck and skimmed. Productive morning! Around lunchtime I slowed down a bit but picked it back up when it was time to get my daughter and take her onto her next thing. I was going to nap around 2 but my son came down and said he was going in the pool so I did as well. We played a bit of water basketball then headed inside and then I got my daughter and we made sausages. By 7:30 though, I was exhausted. I’m not sleeping well these days so it makes sense. On that note though, I am actually going to my lady doctor today. I remember going to him not too long ago and claiming I was in perimenopause, to which he replied, “not yet”. Then, somehow, I skipped 3 annuals and here I am, definitely in perimenopause and feeling guilty for not going! My office used to call and remind women of their annual but they’ve since stopped so hence, I forgot too. Anyway, I am excited to talk to him about options. I have been staunchly against any kind of meds but I will definitely be asking about “bioidentical hrt” because it seems like it might be a good thing, though I know some docs think the side effects outweigh the results. It probably just varies by person.

Thankfully I found Maths easy but I’m with you on roller coaster rides – as in watching from the ground! Hope your medical check goes ok. And yes keep the blogging going.
Happy summer! Nice to get caught up on things and enjoy walks with the kids.
I never did any hrt, and have managed so far, but from what I’ve learned, it might’ve made life easier. Now at 61, I’m past the point of it apparently.
Fully agree with #5 😊
Agree about blogging! I hope you get some answers. I am pro HRT! I think very recently, like within the past month, a “new” study has come out that debunked at least one of the concerns many had about HRT (potentially increasing cancer risk). I feel like anytime you artificially adjust something, there’s a risk that something may go wrong. But I know that for many, adding hormones that have been completely depleted has had a positive impact on them.
Maybe hrt would’ve helped me put comments in the right place…
I’m okay at math, not great. I saw a meme the other day that said if we’re both trying to figure out the cost of something in our head know I’m pretending to do the math and the answer is all on you’ lol. I will not ride any more coasters. I’ve been talked in to some and nope. Never again. The hormone thing is so controversial and it’s hard to know what’s right. I think if you have other risk factors for breast cancer then hormones are a no. Otherwise it seems like maybe they’re ok. Hope you have a great day!
