I had a Friday post started and never got around to it. Sorry! That said, I am not exactly in a great mental space today but I’ll see if I can recap my weekend, from which I feel like I need a weekend to recover!
So, we’d taken Friday off because of a beer fest we agreed to serve at for the club. I took my daughter to cross country practice then we loaded up and headed out. I chose to drive, even knowing it would probably storm – and it very much did. I hate driving in the rain!! Got to Pensacola a little before 11 their time and caught up with my parents a bit before going out for some Mexican. We waited around a little while then decided to just go downtown and see if we could find parking. This fest did not give us, the brewers, a lot of perks. No designated parking (though we did find street parking only a block away) and they didn’t give us food. Most festivals at least give brewers the same food as VIP. Anyway, when we got to our spot, our friend was already there and our other was on his way. It was HOT and HUMID, even moreso than at home, and it kept raining for brief moments then clearing up. I resigned myself to just being sweaty and got on with it.
It was a very busy festival with hardly any downtime. It was fun but also, kind of a pain. And the other homebrew clubs weren’t what I’d call fun people, and I am glad we decided not to go to the Saturday night party.
In fact, we really just hung around with my parents on Saturday. We had breakfast then watched soccer and movies, then met my sister and her boyfriend for dinner, before driving home. It was a late night but worth it to be home Sunday. Ash ran and I ran errands. Had to go to the store, of course, and Costco. Made guacamole then some Mexican chicken, started laundry. Finally, by 1, I was able to sit and watch the first weekend of NFL games. Our friend Kenny came over as well and mostly, that is all we did.
As we went to bed last night, we both felt like we didn’t get a “real” weekend and when I say that I mean, doing the things we like to do most: have a beer and watch a movie. I also don’t like being away from the house on weekends and then feeling like I didn’t clean enough or tend to the yard. I plan to vacuum the pool one evening this week, as well as get some other yard things done. I’m also VERY READY for the first cool fall morning, which I am hoping is coming soon.
