Wednesday ‘Podge – I am indeed feeling at the end of my rope

I am having issues adding the icon; apparently have met my media max on WordPress. Short of actually paying, I wil just have to deal with it for now.

  1. Are you feeling more reset, restart, or full speed ahead as we move into May? Tell us why.

Reset, I think. As soon as school ends, I can slow down, just a wee bit. I need to mentally take a break from the hustle of everyday life. The things that will be lesser: worrying about the day to day high school classes and the two youngers getting to school. Dakota will be in camp but after Isaac gets his license, he can help with taking and picking up. Plus, his car arrives in a couple weeks. Did I mention this? My sister got a new car and we’re inheriting her 2015 Honda Civic. I wish he had gotten the counselor job because that would have been really convenient. Hopefully he can find something. Otherwise, my goal is to make sure I walk every morning and he might have to accompany me. I really got of on a tangent there but I think the summer will be a nice mental reset.

2.Painting, sculpture, architecture, literature, cinema, theatre, music…what’s your favorite form of art? Elaborate.

Hmm, that’s tough because I like them all. I will try to rank but I suppose cinema, music, literature, then probably painting and everything else. The thing is, I can appreciate them all. For example, just because I put architecture lower, doesn’t mean I don’t love a good midcentury modern home. And I’d totally go see a play. But these days, I immerse myself in music and movies we have never seen. The obscure, the forgotten ones.

3. What time is dinner at your house? How do you feel about leftovers?

Early! After we went through out intermittent fasting stage, we realized that eating earlier is always better. I aim to be done eating before 6 pm, if not earlier. Last night, Elliot had an interview then he and Isaac went to the gym, so the meal I was making for them, chicken alfredo, wasn’t done until around 7:15 and in my head, I was disappointed I was serving it up so late.

I like leftovers for most foods; some even get better with age, like lasagna. I know some people don’t like leftovers but I see too much value not to.

4.What’s the last thing you fell down a rabbit hole investigating?

Hmm, good question. I feel like there definitely was something…but I have so little time to do things like that these days, I cannot recall. Might have been something to do with mash temps for brewing.

5. And now for a question from the book Marilyn (Memphis Bridges) gave me…

At what are you ‘self-taught?’

Maybe in some things. But I am kind of bad about hanging in there to teach myself something; I get frustrated easily. But if I do care about it then yes, I will go into all the aspects and find things out and make myself better at whatever it is.

6. Add your own random thought here:

I am…not mentally here, yet again today. While there is still 3.5 weeks left in this semester, I cannot seem to wrap my brain around work. In my brain runs an undercurrent of stress and anxiety but about what, I am not entirely sure. I have been trying to “meditate” or at least, empty my brain of thoughts and focus on breathing during downtimes at work – the few I ever get. But still, stress abounds.

One positive is that we finally tackled my daughter’s room. I hate to say it but I’m worried she has hoarder tendencies. Granted, she is 12, but it was a legitimate disaster area. In the past, I have gone in and cleaned house but last night, I simply prompted her. We threw out about 5 bags of trash and created about 7 bags of Goodwill giveaway. It feels good to have it cleared out.

  1. Good for you and your daughter getting the room cleaned. Hang in there…easier said than done I know, but the end of the school year is approaching and you can turn your thoughts and focus to other things. When I worked in education May was always tough. Everyone is exhausted, antsy, and emotional and ready for a break.

  2. On the last day of school, Mark would always sing, “School’s out for summer” – just that line haha to our kids! You are almost there! When do you find out if your contract is renewed for the next school year?
