1. We’re in to a season students call ‘spring break’. Did you/your family travel over spring breaks when you were growing up? Tell us something about a ‘spring break’ you remember (from childhood or adulthood, either one)
I honestly do not remember going anywhere for Spring Break but it’s entirely possible that’s when we did our Disney trips and I don’t remember. I tend not to really do anything during that time. This year, one of my kids is at a day camp, one is staying home, and one is going to the beach with a friend. And me? I’ll be working my ass off.
2. Last thing you broke? Was it a big deal?
Hmm, the last thing that came to mind was a coffee mug. It’s a Guy Harvey one with fish on it and I got it from a White Elephant thing at Ash’s work Christmas party. I loved that thing so much I went on ebay and got another one!
3. March 7th is National Cereal Day…are you a fan? What’s your favorite? If not cereal what’s your favorite breakfast? Your typical breakfast?
Oh yeah cereal is yum but I won’t touch the stuff. It’s all refined sugar and useless carbs. I don’t eat breakfast anymore but if I eat that food, I want bacon and eggs and biscuits with gravy!
4. Break ground, break of dawn, break down, break the bank, break one’s stride, break the ice, break a law, break a habit, break bread…choose one of the idioms listed and tell us how it applies to your life currently.
Hmm, I’ll say break ground since that implies starting on something and with session beginning, I’ll be experiencing something entirely new.
5. Where do you go to connect with friends and family? What do you like to do most when you’re home alone?
Do you mean like, facebook? I don’t get the question necessarily. I guess I try to catch up with people any way I can if I am in the mood. If I am home alone, oh to be home alone these days! Ha! Doesn’t happen often. But if I am, I play yacht rock or metalcore and clean, putter around finding other things to fix or tidy, and I like to just enjoy the restorative nature of being by myself. I actually enjoy being alone.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
Just got into work and have the worst allergy-induced sinus pain in my face. Luckily I have the four essential oils that kind of help: put them in hot water and inhale. I’ll be doing that soon if it doesn’t subside.
So far this week, been leaving by 6:30, just like I did during committee weeks. It’s not too bad. Most nights I’m still motivated since 3/5 days I leave here and head to pick up a kid whose activity ends at 7 anyway. Then I make some kind of food for whoever fell through the cracks (usually the kid with the activity because you can eat at 4 or 8; no in between!) then work on some other junk like dishes or laundry or, like last night, I cleaned kegs and we transferred a milk stout that was done and then I cleaned the fermenting equipment. I even treated myself to a 20 minute sauna session and read. Of course, by then it was about 9:15 and I passed right out. I mean, I was dead to the world. As I drifted off I heard Ash playing that new Hogwarts game but then I had no awareness of it at all. Same for my night of sleep: I was super asleep and didn’t even hear his alarm go off. Between allergies and burning the candle at both ends, I guess I just needed it!
Tonight, I’ll do the same leave-time and go grab Isaac from soccer then my sister should already be in town because she is chaperoning my daughter’s St. Augustine field trip tomorrow. I am so glad she was able to go with her because Lord knows I wasn’t going to be able to!
You are the second person to mention biscuits and gravy – yum!!
Because they’re amazing! We actually ate breakfast Saturday because of the beer fest and I ordered them at Cracker Barrel. Totally worth it.
Seems like there is sugar hidden in so many foods. So sorry about your sinus pressure because of allergies. Hope it’s better today…
Yes, biscuits and gravy are delicious! Hope your sinus pain subsides and that you have a great week!
The pollen is insane here already. It’s early for it to be this heavy but as I type it is pouring rain so hoping that helps bring more down. I enjoy being alone too, and even though my kids are grown my hubs is retired so it’s rare I’m home alone for any kind of extended period of time. He traveled a lot for work, so this was probably the biggest adjustment for me to make when he retired. Have a good week!
