MMMM + Life turned upside down

Last week was a doozy, you guys. As of Wednesday, we were all set to move: I had forwarded the mail, set up DirecTV, booked a moving truck. Ash had our utilities set to transfer over too. Then Thursday morning, we got news that our buyer fell through – a mere one week from closing! So, panic ensued. Well, not really. Basically, our agent set up a pro photographer for 4 pm that afternoon. I went home at 1 and CLEANED. See, we didn’t even list before because the buyer knew our neighbors so he put in the initial offer prior to any of that. But anyway, the photographer came and got the pics done and our house was on zillow sometime in the night… because my agent never sleeps. The whole thing is a mess; this guy’s banker/lender really should have not led him to believe he could afford this if he could not. Sigh.

My mother got into town that evening as well, since she was going on my oldest son’s field trip to Animal Kingdom. Ash went out with a friend to fly drones and the rest of us went to Island Wings because I had a sweet coupon for a free entree up to 17 dollar value. The wing plate we split was literally free!

Friday, I dropped my mom and son off super early for the field trip bus and then went to work. We had about 7 showings throughout the day – and we even had to stay away as late as 6:30 for one last person. BUT, we did get an offer. He’s an investor who has cash so this may not disrupt the schedule we were already on – not by much anyway. Instead of moving this Friday – if everything goes ok – we move at the end of the month. Honestly, that had been our original date but we pushed it up because we could. SO, let’s hope this one goes well too!

On Saturday, Ash and I left around 8:30 to get to the shooting range. We recently picked up another rifle so we wanted to check it out. His friend met us there (as the range member) and we also got to fire a couple pistols. I’m considering getting a Glock 380, but with all the house stuff, now’s not the time. Either way, we had fun. My accuracy is surprising; lol. Better than I thought I was.

We went out to eat, then Costco, then we had set up to be able to go into the new house. Our agent said the other people were already moved out. Except when we got there, there was a car with a trailer. We drove around a bit and came back and a guy was outside. We figured it was the owner – it was – so we went ahead and met him. Super nice guy and he let us walk around and told us little things about the remodel they did, etc. I was really happy to be able to show it to my mom and the kids, who had not seen it either, other than in photos.

Yesterday was a lot slower; my mom left mid-morning and we had lunch, took naps, the boys played outside, and for a minute there, I was the only one in the house or awake and I was actually at a loss for what to do. I had no cleaning to be doing- since I did it all Thursday. Laundry was in transition and it was just nice to… sit and be. At the same time, I felt like I should have been more productive!

This week’s theme is songs with colors in the title. I just picked some random ones that came to mind.

  1. A couple of good tunes here!

I feel bad for you about your buyer falling through. Your agent sounds like he’s right on top of things. Are you going to go ahead with your closing and move anyway? My agent when we sold Mom’s house said it’s easier to sell if the house is empty.

  2. OH WOW!!! That had to be nerve racking! Then again that poor buyer I’m sure their dreams were crushed too. I agree with you that shouldn’t have lead him on like that. So sad. You picked some nice tunes, but I have to say I wouldn’t have blamed you if you didn’t play today, but thank you… some times music can calm the salvage beast as they say! Good luck!!!

  3. What a bummer your buyer backed out! I’m glad you’re gonna go ahead with moving into your new place, though. I believe everything will fall inline okay. “Jackie Blue” is an excellent song to get me boogieing around the room this morning. Thanks for joining the 4M gang on the dance floor. Have a colorific week!

  4. Wow, you sure did have quite a week! Buying a house and Selling a house is said to be the most stressful thing, behind a death (or so it used to be the second most stressful thing that anyone could ever endure). Sorry your buyer fell through but hey, getting that listing right up and having an investor come in with an offer is a fabulous outcome! Good luck, I hope it all goes well.
Moving — Ugh! That’s a chore I have always dreaded. I think I told you before that when I moved into my house here I said that it was my plan to die here because I never ever want to move again! Sucks! Good luck. Everybody keep their cool, slow and easy…it will all go okay, even if not according to plan… πŸ™‚

Be sure you plan a trip to the range AFTER the move too. I always find that target shooting helps get the stress out. I haven’t been to the range in a long time and I’m due. I have a Smith & Wesson .357, which is my favorite, and a really cool H&R .22 9-shot top load revolver. I like to use jacketed hollow points for my first six out of the S&W. It’s fun: that BOOM and the fire… Love it. Then I back off and use cheaper wadcutters. You just got me in the mood to go shooting… And here we are with a weekend upon us. Hmmm?? πŸ™‚

Your first song, “Jackie Blue”, is absolutely one of my favorites! Such a great song! So glad you chose it because today was a good day to hear it!
Your second song I’m not familiar with — it’s really good!

Have a great weekend. Hope everything falls into place for you. Will look forward to hearing all about it with your next Monday post.

  5. Ohhhhh man! That sucks when the buyer falling through happens last minute like that. We actually had the same thing happen when we were selling our house – the buyers decided to change their financing, which then changed what they were able to afford, and wanted us to knock our price down $10k to accommodate them (I think they figured we’d *have* to, since we had an offer on a house ‘contingent’). We declined, they walked away and left the earnest money behind (which we got to keep) and the new buyers were waaaaaaay better and it worked out splendidly since we were able to re-initiate our original offer on the house we wanted. πŸ™‚ Sounds like your ‘new’ buyer might be the perfect one, too! πŸ™‚

Great song choices! Thanks so much for the dance! πŸ™‚

  6. WOW. I was on the other side of a house buying deal that went bad (we were the buyers and the sellers changed their mind) plus I was pregnant and….that must have been SO stressful for you. But your songs more than made up for it – I had forgotten all about Jackie Blue. I loved hearing it again and so did my husband! I hope this next week isn’t quite as exciting – except if it is a good exciting.
