I’m not going to blog about Friday’s school incident; the only thing I can say is that I’m trying not to think about it too much because it makes me worry for our society and shakes my faith in God. THAT said, I did have a lovely, if not insanely busy, weekend.
Friday, Ash and I left work a little earlier than normal to get to lunch by 11 as to make our 12:15 showing of The Hobbit in 3D, IMAX. I had heard people bad-mouthing it for being “nothing like the book” but I knew better. Going in, I knew they were going to, um, add things since the book takes all of maybe 3 hours to read. I am OK with this; it’s called creative license. And the movie did not disappoint. It was entertaining through and through. I tweeted about this all weekend; those critics who said it was a slow start , etc are stuck up snobs. It was a rousing good time! We stopped into Barnes and Noble afterwards then got the kids. The weather was nice that evening and Elliot and I played a bit of soccer and I made spaghetti. Pretty sure IÂ was asleep on the couch by 9 or 10.
Saturday had a busy line-up: Soccer at 10, came home and changed and took the kids to see Santa. Gave Elliot a snack and went right back out to a birthday party at the local bounce-house loc (which, if you know me, you know I HATE). It was alright; got to talking to one of the other little girls’ mother about running and things. So that was nice. Right before we were to leave, met with a friend of mine on her way home to give me their DVD players for our trip. Took Ell home, tried to take a nap but my oldest dog decided he wanted to whine and cry for 30 minutes. Couldn’t sleep, got up, cleaned for the babysitter who showed around 6, right after I’d fed the kids. Got ready for Ash’s boss’s holiday party. It was nice; he had a few beers but I’m not drinking these days. 😉
Sunday, since Ash had done his long run Saturday, I got bagels and we did grocery shopping. I tried to recreate the amazing mac and cheese I made on Thanksgiving (it turned out about 95% similar) and then fell asleep shortly into the second quarter of the 1 o’clock football games. My boys were pretty well behaved this weekend. They were happy to color or make snowflakes or paint. Which is really nice amidst the craziness of the season. Our weather is rainy and crappy but I won’t let that stop me; I have some last minute errands to run before our vacation.
This week is nice and quiet at work so I’ll be able to get a lot done. Yay!

This week, I am playing the first two Christmas songs that come to mind.
Because I love Don Henley’s voice.
And a sort of negative Xmas song but it’s funny
You really did have the exact same Saturday as us (minor soccer)! I was exhausted at the end of the day.
Not even kidding. When we got home a little after 10, I promptly passed out.
I’ve never heard the second one before, but who doesn’t love the Eagles & love their song. Thanks for sharing and a very Merry Christmas thanks for joining us.
Yay for calm weeks! I LOVE The Eagles, but this one didn’t make my holiday 4Ms this year. I’m also a pretty big Blink fan, but hadn’t heard this one yet, either, so thanks for sharing!
Here via 4M!
That last song is a bit negative, but got a kick out of it. Merry Christmas!
I Like Blink 182 but not heard this before. The Eagles great stuff!
Hope you have more calm weeks.
