1. Do you think you’re driven more by curiosity or comfort? Explain.
That’s an interesting question. I think generally, curiosity. But if we are thinking day to day, I am driven by stability, which we might associate with comfort. I like to know I have money for the bills and a nice, comfy place to go home to. So yes, I suppose comfort is always a present thing for me but I am also driven to learn new things. I like to know the origins of ideas and words, people. I think it’s cool to find out stuff that doesn’t even really matter. For example, I love filling in the gaps of, say, Lord of the Rings. Asking questions like “Why did Tolkien choose to “kill” Gandalf, just to have him come back in the next book?” I had an inkling but googled that just yesterday because I was curious.
2. What non-food item is in your refrigerator or freezer?
Does yeast count? It’s not nutritional yeast; I have four different strains: two wine yeasts and two meant for beer. Gotta keep it cold or the little guys can die and they won’t ferment!
3. Are you comfortable with silence? If you’re home alone, do you like silence or do you need regular background noise? Do you seek out times and places to be silent? What’s your favorite place to find silence/be silent?
Yes, in fact, I quite enjoy it. If home alone, I’ll be perfectly happy doing little tasks in the quiet but sometimes I’ll put my favorite music on. I enjoy taking a walk alone and even though it isn’t silent, it is quiet. Now running on the other hand, I will usually listen to music.
4. Carpentry, electrical, plumbing, landscaping…which skill would you most like to possess and how would you put that skill to use today?
I think maybe landscaping. My yard has a lot of areas that could use tending and I just don’t have the ability to make them look nice.
5. Do you lean more towards being too needy or too independent? Which do you find harder to deal with in others?
I’m probably independent to a fault. I am terrible about asking for help. I don’t think asking to be helped is “needy” though; I just would rather try to do something by myself then rely on others. I personally don’t like needy people.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
I am kind of mentally absent today, though I woke up early and enjoyed my coffee and quiet time. I had a weird dream where my husband and I were driving a Jeep through the desert and got ambushed and shot at. At first, he thought it was hopeless and we’d just die out there. But when we didn’t after a time, I suggested a hospital. In dreams, everything is weird. So it shifted to said hospital and it took forever to be called in. The dream ended with them calling him but me, not so much. And I was in pain wondering if I was about to die in a waiting room. Awful, right?
In more positive news, I had a nice time catching up with old friends last night. We have dinner from time to time but I hadn’t seen them since about late July. (Not true; I saw Courtney briefly but only because they gave Isaac a ride once while his car was in the shop). Anyway, it was nice to sit and chat and eat sushi. We were out about 3 hours! In fact, yesterday was go go go. I worked until about 3:20 then met Isaac at the mall. We did find him some pants and a tie for homecoming, but ran out of time and energy to find shoes. I had about 40 minutes between that and dinner plans. In the later evening, I ended up going up to bed around 9:30 and getting almost a full night’s sleep. So that was nice!
Today I have to start a quick crockpot meal (meatballs) and then get some things done in the house. Every time my husband goes out of town, I think I’m going to do SO MUCH and then that doesn’t end up being the case. I don’t know why that is! Once we eat we will probably go out to find shoes and a belt to complete Isaac’s homecoming fit. It is truly always something we have to do!

I always overestimate my intended to-do’s when I’m home alone. Which is rare and probably why I lounge and watch TV my hubs doesn’t want to watch when he’s away. That dream sounds awful and they always feel so real in the moment. Fun fact…my daughter’s family are dressing as characters from Lord of the Rings. The 4 year old is Princess Galadriel and her costume is too precious. She wanted to be Cinderella but got on board with the family theme when she saw the dress lol. My son-in-law read the books to the older two boys, but she doesn’t know who Galadriel is. She is all about the dress though and I’m excited to see the rest of the costumes. Have a great day!
That’s awesome! We don’t have Halloween plans but my family always used to choose a theme. Those were some great memories. 🙂
I think I am more for comfort but when I think about it, it is stability that I am driven by. I always thought Gandalf was killed off just to cause a bit of drama. lol I am off to Google it now.
I feel the same about landscaping!
Eek! That sounds like an awful dream! How lovely to catch up with your friends.
