I am desperately trying to both write this post and also, record a video lecture for one of my online jobs and I keep getting interrupted by my son and my husband. I should have started around 5 when I first got up!
ANYWAY, let’s go back to Friday, which was a half day at my school. They had told us we could “work remotely” starting at noon, so I left directly at 12 and drove across town to meet my husband for hibachi, which was fantastic. He and I then went to ABC but we didn’t find anything. (We aren’t tequila people but he’s been looking for one a friend recommended.) The afternoon was a little frustrating though; we began what we thought would be a semi-easy project: flushing/cleaning the tankless water heater. We got the screws off, the valves shut, and the hoses on, but we couldn’t find attachments that had come with our pump. We have a little aquatic type pump that we use for, basically, this same task with our keg lines. So when we couldn’t find those, we went up to the Ace hardware, to no avail. They weren’t sure what we needed and neither were we, so we went home, grabbed the pump, then went to the other Ace inside a garden center where we had actually purchased said pump. Turns out is never came with that attachment after all so in the end, we were unable to do it. Ash was pretty mad about it too so that kind of sucked. We just watched some movies, after the Premiere league match.
Saturday, we watched soccer in the morning and I ran some errands. I wanted to replace the kids’ toilet seat, since we’d given them our old one and to be honest, it was broken. In fact, we were running a real hobo operation there because once the crack got bad enough the seat was in two parts, I literally duct taped that thing! I know I know; I can’t believe I did that either. Anyway, I got a new seat then went to Shoe Station for new sandals, since I got a 10 dollar coupon in my email. Well, they didn’t have my size so I looked online but I apparently don’t have an account, which makes no sense because I earned the 10 dollar coupon via my account. Ugh! Just striking out left and right. Oh, and I got the wrong shape toilet seat too! I swear it was round but no, elongated. Sigh. I didn’t end up taking the thing back until Sunday. Defeated, I made lunch and we watched Soccer until the afternoon, when I made a lasagna, and we did a little bit of bowling and watched movies. My daughter had gone with a friend to the next town over for lunch and my boys were hanging out together so as per usual, it’s always just me and Ash, holding down the fort (when we don’t have other plans, of course.)
Sunday, we had planned to take a walk early but Ash slept in. I think he needed to because he woke up really early Saturday. That’s ok; it all worked out. I started laundry and popped the lasagna in the oven kind of early (I’d assembled it the day before) because Isaac wanted to eat before he went to work at noon. I also ran out to Lowe’s and exchanged the toilet seat then got it put on. Yay! That made me feel accomplished. In the afternoon we watched some new Netflix movie that wasn’t very good (Mike and Nick and Nick and Alice) before going to a party. A guy who recently joined the homebrew club invited us because he wants to open a restaurant and needed people to try his stuff. He made a crap ton of sausages and had two home brews on tap. It was fun; I ran into a guy I used to pass every day in a hallway when I worked at the Legislature. Additionally, my daughter’s cross country coach (and the 7th grade Civics teacher) was there. Slightly awkward but we had a nice conversation. We stayed a little longer than I wanted to but it was fine. My oldest was already in bed by the time we got home and my daughter had spent the night with a friend. My middle was at a friend’s and even though I just went straight to bed at 10, very exhausted, he was still out and I kept checking my phone. He didn’t get back until late because he didn’t want to drive in the storm that blew through; I don’t blame him! I hate driving in rain and especially at night.
I woke pretty early today, around 5. But I enjoy those early mornings: coffee, youtube, my little tablet matching game. We’ll see what the day holds; we need to try and find the leak in the pool. Ash doesn’t feel amazing today so hopefully he can recover as the morning goes on. I’m thankful for my day off, especially after talking to my son who indeed does need to still work. He doesn’t love working for a pool company but it’s a job for now until he can find a career. It’s tough but someone has to do the tough jobs, you know?
