- I have eleventy billion things to do today but here I am, writing a post. I don’t like when people say “I have anxiety” because for real, we all do. But this week, mine is on high alert. However, I will say that there were a couple things we accomplished this weekend (Monday) that really helped. We did indeed flush out our tankless water heater. Once we got a pump that could attach, it was smooth sailing. Next, even though Ash did not feel amazing, he got in the pool and looked for gashes in the vinyl liner. We found two, actually, and he was able to get the patches on. Actually, he used an old weight vest we purchased sometime during Covid and that helped him to stay down on the bottom of the pool to work. The water seemed to be holding over night so, yay!
- My son is stressed about work, and that is worrying me. He wants to be a great employee but in that, he’s thinking about work outside work, and that’s no good. Especially because it isn’t the kind of job where you have to. He and I went to lunch together yesterday and had a really nice time so hopefully those supportive things can help.
- Speaking of that lunch, we went to this new all you can eat sushi place that was good, if not a little too expensive. I do think we go our money’s worth. While he ate more than me, here’s what we got: two 3 piece orders of krab rangoon, one 4 piece soup dumplings, two spicy tuna rolls, two big rolls, a side of hibachi rice, three 4 piece orders of hibachi shrimp, an order of hibachi steak and also, one of chicken, 3 pieces of nigiri, and 2 fried Oreos. It was a lot!
- I am only working three days this week, since we have a beer fest out of town Friday, but we have so much going on in the meantime: a meeting later today about an event in January, a cross country meet tomorrow and a fantasy football draft directly after, and we have brew club Thursday. I am trying to pace myself and not let thoughts spiral out of control.
- I realized this weekend that I have not been paying attention to any current events. In some ways, this makes me happy. I’m not focused on the bad stuff outside my control. However, it makes me feel like I’m becoming too insular and I’m not a good citizen.
- I’ll share it below but the other morning something caught my eye in the yard: a lone red leaf. Could it be? Is nature thinking about turning seasons soon? I know that Florida is renowned for “not getting seasons” but here, a scant 20 minutes from the Georgia border, we do see trees turn color and we’ll start having cooler mornings as September moves on. It’s funny how I usually bemoan August as the turning point but truly, it is September. It’s still warm but the change is happening and it’s happening fast.
