Hello Monday – Busy week ahead

Well, this weekend was good and bad – and even then, the bad wasn’t terrible.

The first Premier League game was Friday afternoon so I left work as soon as I could because I knew Ash and Isaac would be watching it. So that was our afternoon until my son went to work. My oldest wanted bbq so he picked up 4 Rivers and that’s about it. I cannot recall the movie we watched. At some point I was getting emotional for no reason so Ash and I stood at the kitchen island just talking, and that was nice. I was up way too late worrying about my son, because he wasn’t even home at almost 12, which seemed late for a restaurant that closes at 10. Turns out it was just really busy and only two people closing/cleaning up.

Sadly, I wouldn’t sleep well that night; I was having horrible pains in my abdomen that would come and go. I woke up around 4 and just got up, in case I’d end up in the bathroom and I didn’t want to wake Ash up. In some ways, being the only one awake at that time was nice, though I wish it had included a lot less pain.

Saturday, I had promised my daughter I would take her to Target. For her birthday, I didn’t really get her a gift, unless you count buying decorations and making food for the girls she had over to swim. So my gift was letting her shop. She and I also had a plan to buy something for my oldest’s birthday, which is this coming Saturday. He needed a new hamper and pillow so we got those and some other little sample sizes of soaps and deodorants, etc. I know he wants to buy clothes but I mean, he has a job now so he can do that on his own. Anyway, she and I were successful at Target and then went to Shoe Station for new cross country shoes, which she found AND they were on sale – score! Sometimes she can’t find good ones in her size there.

After the shoe store we went to Bealls and she found skin care type things to fill out the rest of the budget I had given her so, all in all, a successful outing. There was soccer all morning and since it now has fantasy implications for us, I wanted to watch but alas, I was in an out. When she and I got home, Isaac asked for burgers before work so I went back out then got those made for everyone. He left but since the place wasn’t very busy, got sent home by 2. And that worked out for him because he went to play soccer with friends.

BUT… on the way to play, he was driving behind a truck that apparently lost some junk out the back and he ran over it, getting a flat tire. Luckily he was with Peyton, an old friend of my oldest and someone who knew how to put the spare on. Isn’t it always something? Seems like. He brought the car back here but then they all went out to eat and then he went back out with them and ended up staying over.

I was not really happy about that, knowing he had to mow on Sunday as well as deal with the tire problem, but I let it go. I wasn’t exactly a joy to be around that evening anyway, since I was stressed about all that and was still having gut pains. I went up to bed kind of early, truth be told, and that was fine with me.

I awoke Sunday aware that my pain had lessened, thankfully. Ash had wanted to take an early walk so we got out around 7:40 and probably went about 3.5 miles. It was a lovely walk, actually. Humid but not hot. 79 when we began, which is the coolest I can recall it being in August in Florida!

I had been bemoaning the little things I can never remember to do in the house on the weekends so as soon as we got back, I got to work. I mean, little things, but they got done and actually, the house is pretty tidy right now.

I messaged Isaac, since the text conversation the night before included reminders to wake up and get home to mow and also, verified his friend would bring him back. Well such was not the case. I didn’t hear from him until 10 and he in fact had no ride because everyone was still asleep. I can’t say I wasn’t mad; I was washing dishes and he was looking for a pick up and I was getting more and more angry. So I told him to start walking and I’d leave in a min. Ended up meeting at a gas station halfway because apparently my friends (the parents of the kids he was with and my long time friends) always get coffee at this new gas station and they saw him walking! I had to explain that I wasn’t being mean and all and they understood – they’ve been parents a long time too and sometimes a kid needs a lesson!

With that debacle out of the way (and “punishment” given – no computer the rest of the day) we sat down to watch soccer. Well, kind of. I began on laundry and then a brewing friend came by to get his Vienna lager kit and get help with a regulator. We talked for about 30 minutes then it was back to soccer. I did TERRIBLE this first week! Worse than any fantasy team across all sports. But oh well. We are all new to this (normally play NFL) so there will be a learning curve. When the 11:30 game ended, I wanted Mexican so the four of us went to my fave spot. Even though Sunday began in a annoying way, it turned out to be a nice day. From going out to lunch to watching some pretty decent old movies, to both of us getting high up on the score board in our bowling game, the day had a generally better FEEL than the days before.

Around 9 my oldest came down and told my husband and other son about this funny stand-up comedian he’d been watching so they put that on, I said good night to my daughter, then I went to my bedroom. I decided I’d had enough noise and needed some quiet. So all in all, a very nice way to end my weekend!

To account for the tire issue, this morning I took Dakota to cross country, came back and took Isaac’s car to the tire place and left it, then I asked Elliot if he’d snag me from there and bring me back to the house. The advantage of him driving a work truck is that his car is basically a spare during the week. I got to work around 9 and just in time for 2nd period and I didn’t really need a sub. Only had one kid anyway since the juniors are on their yearly retreat. Anyway, that’s all for today. How was your weekend?

  1. It’s nice to have a spare vehicle! Alyssa didn’t take her car to college so we have it which is kind of nice. I hope you’re feeling better. How fun to spend time with your daughter and get her items. My kids were always in great moods when they were getting things, lol! I wish spending time with me was enough to get them in a good mood but definitely not, haha. Hope your Monday went well at school!
