- Yeah, it’s already been a long week. Looking forward to Friday because we have our fantasy soccer league draft and then it’ll mean I am free!
- We have zero, I REPEAT, zero plans this weekend. My parents may stop by on Sunday on their way back from their very long British Isles vacation but it will depend on how eager to get home they are. They have been gone since…July 24th!
- Apropos of nothing at all, I randomly popped into Zillow and out of curiosity, checked on my house. The photos we saw when we were buying in 2018 are usually what’s up there but about a week ago, my son looked at it and they had the pics from before it got renovated, which was really interesting! Why it reverted for a time and then back is mind-boggling.
- I am pretty pumped about teaching creative writing but in my planning, I am getting way ahead of myself. We are just working through some foundations now – voice, style, description – but I keep looking up poems and flash fiction for way later. Guess it can’t hurt to get ahead and gather resources.
- This morning has already been…a morning! I woke up with my alarm for the first time in a week, leaving not as much time to get ready but also, feeling kind of weird. I slept so soundly that I didn’t move much, so my back hurts. The morning felt rushed and then my son went to leave and said his car was doing the same thing as before…before we got $1500 worth of repairs. Ugh! He took my other son’s car instead but then I went out and it fired right up. I drove it a little and it seemed fine. Please and fingers crossed that it was a user error.
- It really IS always something, right? My pool is leaking again and for now, we have the people coming back out to fix the patch but we also bought our own tape so I need to cancel it and see if we can do it first. I was going to run water when I got home yesterday but we had a MAJOR storm that dumped probably an inch or more. So, that was a positive I suppose.
- Later today, Isaac has an interview to dish wash at one of our favorite local places. We also know the owner – I’d say -pretty well. Well enough that when we were both going to be in Germany, we met up. Here’s hoping because with having the car now, he needs gas money, as well as eating out money, which said car now facilitates!
- We have our brew club meeting tonight and my husband isn’t exactly feeling well. I hope it’s nothing serious; serious enough I’d have to lead it instead. It’s not that I couldn’t but that would also mean he’d have to take off work, etc. I know we all get sick from time to time but we just don’t. Not that often anyway, and I do consider us lucky in that.
- Allergies are getting me today as well, which is odd since I haven’t had too many issues with them this year at all. Luckily, I did prepare a little bag of things like that for my work bag: headache pills, allergy pills, nail file, extra feminine things, etc. I am not a purse type woman so I am very proud of myself for being ready like this!
- When you spend from 7:30-3:30 at a place and cannot really leave, this is very important!
- Sigh, it’s getting close to time to teach and I am not really panicking, but I am also not wanting to do it. Ha. I keep thinking it is one day later than it is, all week. So, my brain is saying it’s Friday when, alas, not yet!
- I remember now what it was like last year, going back to work full time. Essentially, I come and go from the house, observing things that need to be done and fret about when that will actually get done. These are things such as: the decorations from Dakota’s party that were neatly stacked yet left on top of something; the weeds growing high around the A/C unit, due to all the rain; beer cans that I have not logged or boxed; clean towels not yet folded, residing on the back of the sun room couch.
- My 10th graders had to read Lord of the Flies over summer and my school has them do a summer reading assignment upon return. It’s funny because I read it long ago but failed to reread it, so I am flying by the seat of my pants. They don’t know that though, which is good!
After reading your post, I went to Zillow to look at our house. The photos are from 2014 and since everything was redone after the fire, it is totally different now. There is one more current photo and it has the giant dumpster out front from the rebuild after the fire (2022). It is a weird mix!
