- Ok, day two is turning out better than day one; not that yesterday was bad but I was definitely not feeling well and then all the new ” back to” stuff was just exhausting. Luckily I was able to leave here around 1:30 so I got home with enough time to squeeze in back to school shopping for the kids.
- In fact, they did really well; shopped smart, I’ll say. Now that we are beyond elementary where the supply list is exhaustive and truthfully, more for the teachers than the kids, the things they need are limited to folders, notebooks, pens, and pencils, mostly. Except the pesky graphing calculator we’ll probably have to spring for.
- I was feeling pretty motivated so I heated up leftover chicken for us, made the buttered/salted pecans for the week, then hit the store for a couple items for the kids’ dinner. I had a pound of ground beef that had to be cooked yesterday so I whipped up this cheesy/saucy mac and beef casserole that, surprisingly, they all liked. I was JUST about to start cooking said meat when the power randomly went off. Like, 5 pm, bright and sunny out, no wind. So for about 30 minutes I just waited. Meanwhile though, the kids started on the mowing, which was much needed, since we have had a lot of rain.
- Finally got the dinner going then later in the evening we watched Disclosure Day. It was…fine. I didn’t hate it or like it, to be honest.
- Today’s schedule includes a lot of teacher independent planning, which means I can be on my laptop and blog, as well as grade papers elsewhere. I forgot my little USB A to C converter so I can’t use my mouse on my work computer. And, call me old-fashioned, but I HATE trackpads. They’re so inefficient. I can do everything so much faster with a mouse.
- I only have three English courses instead of four this year, and they have me back on Yearbook but also, added creative writing, which I am super pumped for. I am not entirely sure the order in which I want to do things but I will get there.
- I am feeling so much more confident this year in general, since I am not brand new. I know the policies and the expectations etc… I look forward to honing some of my materials to work more efficiently and effectively as well.
