Hello Monday – Back to school

Blargh; don’t know if it’s the fact I have to go to work today or these days of endless rain but I don’t feel great today!

Anyway, the weekend. Let’s see… what did we do Friday? I made sure to get stuff done around the house in preparation for my daughter’s Saturday birthday. We had bratwursts for dinner and I know we watched a movie but lord knows I can’t remember anything.

Saturday I eased into the morning but by 8, was up and prepping.

She always wants a taco bar and pool party but went Friends themed this year as well. By noon, we had six other girls here and sadly, it did rain the whole time. But they went in the pool when it wasn’t thundering. They made bracelets and painted and ate and still had a good time. It felt exhausting, even though at this age, I don’t have to do a whole lot or be super hands on. Two girls were going to spend the night but we decided to just have them stay until 10. So I did end up having to feed them dinner as well but then it was over and I could breathe again.

Got up Sunday and started on laundry and clean up, putting the house back together. For her birthday meal, she chose Texas Roadhouse so we all, including Elliot’s girlfriend, went up there right as they opened. I was shocked that we were not the only people! But to be fair, people turn out for the Roadhouse. Anyway, we had a very nice meal. I was wanting slow for my final free day so we watched a couple movies and did a bit of bowling and then this weather-induced headache came roaring back and I laid down at God knows what time (maybe 7:30?) and totally fell asleep on the couch.

So yeah, that made for a weird evening because I woke around 9 and just felt wrung out. I drank a lot of water and took headache pills and went back to sleep by maybe 11. I did sleep really well, considering. I was going to run this morning but decided against it. I will for sure tomorrow. This week being teacher in-service, has me taking it one slow day at a time. I.E. not thinking too far ahead. We’re supposed to be there by 8:30 today (8 if you want to get your faculty photo out of the way) but I am using this time to blog and then I’ll head out around 8. I haven’t had to do a full day in a long time and I am both excited and dreading it!

  1. We’ve had such rainy gray weather here too, so unusual for this time of year. I wasn’t feeling well all weekend and gave in to that and we watched movies, I slept a lot, and we just took it easy. I’m watching two of my grands this week and need energy for that. I’m glad your daughter had fun with her friends and hope you have a great year back in school.

  2. Work already- ugh, that went fast :(. I hope your day is a good one. Your daughter’s party sounds like fun. Hopefully it was a nice celebratory thing to do the weekend before you get super busy again. We haven’t been to TR in months and now I am wanting to go there :).

  3. Glad the birthday bash went off well.

This morning, I saw teachers and staff headed into the nearby high school around 8/ 8:30. Must be the first day of in-service for them too. And so it begins!
