- That’s right; why not a random post? I am banging out little tiny projects left and right. Stuff like: reset time on the pool pump, since power went out yesterday; spray some Home Defense in the kitchen because high temps plus rain equals Florida bugs trying to come inside; helped Elliot fix a problem with one of his pool hoses for work; scheduled my car to get a new radiator; made chicken salad; weed whacked in some overgrown areas, with help from my middle; washed out some decanters to put our typical drinking bourbons in; put away some laundry that had been sitting; folded towels; rearranged the beer fridge and cleaned out old leftovers from the regular fridge. Whew! I’m a whirlwind today.
- Fair to say, in between these things, I’m almost obsessively scrolling Instagram reels. I’m on a good streak now, as they are mostly about mourning the end of summer as a teacher and semi-sad posts about how moms feel the sadness of going from having little kids to those who basically do their own things. I’m trying to stave off the tears sometimes but eh, that’s the good/bad side-effects of the HRT, methinks.
- Yesterday was a unique day. As noted, neither Ash nor myself woke up feeling great. I didn’t get too much done and he decided to sleep in and stay home. For lunch, we went to Carrabba’s and, family win! The three of us ate lunch and then took advantage of their 10 dollar take home deal. So I got a chicken alfredo, which also came with soup and bread, and fed that to my other two kids for dinner. Win! Plus, I had a $50 gift card I had won back in Spring during the teacher appreciation lunch. So really, after only 29 bucks, I fed everyone.
- In the afternoon, I picked up my daughter and for only 35 dollars, we were able to get the rest of the stuff to pull off her 13th birthday party this coming Saturday. I am trying to play it smart because this month is always full of random fees and costs and it can be overwhelming on top of the start of school and all that.
- In the evening, Ash and I watched a movie called The Dink, which was actually pretty good. It missed on some of the comedy but overall, a good little watch. We then started watching The Death of Robin Hood but then a massive storm blew in and we lost power. I am talking, crazy winds and tons of rain. We didn’t know when it would come back on so after about maybe 30 minutes of playing cards with only a flashlight illuminating the living room, we all decided to go out. The boys went to Target and Chik-fil-a and the rest of us went to Walmart, which was successful because I needed a few things. Funny enough though, the power was back on just five minutes into our trip. LOL. Isn’t that always the way? I guess I shouldn’t complain though.
- We have been bad about our morning walks lately so today marked day one of starting back to running for me and my daughter. She’s prepping for Cross Country and me? Well, the beer mile is on the 7th. LOL. It’s silly, I know. I’m a better beer drinker than runner these days but I don’t intend to go out there with no runs in my back pocket. I do miss the days of training but I have gotten out of the habit. It’s time to start back though.
- We have been under extreme heat warning the last couple days but honestly? It’s not that bad. I went out to cut some overgrowth yesterday at like, 3 pm and yeah, I sweat. But I don’t think it registered as “too hot.” I think this means I have lived in Florida just that long.
