Feels like it should be Sunday, somehow. And yet, I’m scratching my head trying to remember what all we did. Hmm…
OK, so, as noted in my Friday post, I had a DMV appointment, which was not as smooth as normal. I didn’t get called for a half hour after my time, and then it cost more than anticipated, since we didn’t have a plate to transfer. I mean, we did but apparently it was too old? I don’t know. I just know it cost me a lot. Anyway, got home and met up with our neighbor and Ash was home soon after, so we caught up for about 2-3 hours. That was nice, actually. We didn’t do too much else. Our oldest wanted to watch a movie and we all fell asleep and I know for sure we got in bed early!
Got up Saturday and worked on things; Target, boiled some eggs then deviled them, started a little laundry. We left by about 11:30 to attend a bottle share with the homebrew club. It was fun and actually, more people than anticipated attended. Our friend hosted it and he lives a little farther out of town, so I was glad to see people make the drive. When we got home, we made some sausages and played some bowling, but also, watched a movie called Sleepaway Camp and I can tell you, the last 30 seconds was a shocker! It’s a slasher type from the 80s so if you like that thing, I do recommend it but warn you that the end is…unconventional.
Sunday morning I did the regular laundry and Ash and I worked a bit on yard things. I had made a pico de gallo the day before because a friend gifted me a huge tomato and some jalapenos. Seeing that, I decided to make sheet pan fajitas, which turned out great and everyone liked them. I love trying a new recipe and having it be a success. In the afternoon, we watched a few movies: Into the West, My Bloody Valentine, then later, Sleepaway Camp 2, which was nowhere near as good as the first.
I woke up today feeling unsettled for some reason. I had a dream the pool had gone green, so that was stressful. It has not, by the way, but I am still worried about it. Don’t know why; we have a pool guy! In fact, I am waiting for him to get here so I can mention that I do think there’s still a little algae in there. The other things stressing me out: poison ivy is still bothering me. Going the calamine route now and it works but my arms look a mess with all that on them. But it’s necessary. I am not stressed about my RXs, as they finally did get filled. So that is one positive and I am beginning that process. I know it takes time so maybe it’s just mental but I already feel a little more like myself after starting.
The other thing – OF COURSE – is vacation. We leave Wednesday and while I am excited for the things we will see and do, I always stress before leaving. Not as much as when we went to Europe, since you can’t just buy exactly what you need there, but I still worry I’ll forget something. I think I will begin packing today and that will set my mind at ease. I am worried about the cost of everything too, though happy to see gas prices coming down. We’re flying out but driving back. I already told the kids we are eating out once a day and buying food to keep at the airbnbs/in the car. It’s more cost efficient that way and besides, Ash and I typically only eat once a day so, there’s that. I also have to make a long exhaustive list of things for my oldest, who can’t go due to his new job. He’ll be holding down the fort and I will need to cover all the bases with him!

Vacations are fun, but yes, so much work and things to worry/hope about with regards to the vacation itself and how things are at home. I hope you guys have a great time! Your weekend sounds nice- catching up with a neighbor friend and going to your brew event that was well attended sound like the things that weekends should be made of :).
