As noted in my Friday post, Ash and I went to a concert in Dothan Thursday night. It was awesome, by the way, and the kind of therapy I needed. I woke Friday feeling a little worse for wear but made it to work by 9:45. Ended up using less leave than I thought! After the half day, the teachers were treated to a lunch at a Latin-type restaurant, which was good. I just had a rice bowl with chicken and other stuff. Those who came all had drinks and we had a nice time, actually. With only one regular week and one testing week left, we’re all a little crazy.
I headed home to do, well, nothing. I love a Friday! Ash and I watched some cheesy movies and drank some beer. I made dinner for one of the kids and we did a little bowling and that’s it. Elliot was home super late because the woman he was shadowing had some issue so even though he thought he might be done early, the boss took the remaining pools and he tacked on some overtime hours.
We decided to do Mother’s Day on Saturday instead of Sunday, so we all headed up to our favorite brewery for brunch. Everyone tells me it’s really good so I figured I’d give it a go. And it was really good. I had a big piece of catfish on grits, while everyone else had either a basic 2 egg, biscuit and meat breakfast or a sandwich of that sort. It was a nice meal and a relaxing way to begin my day. We didn’t do a whole lot else that day; some movies, puttering around the house. The rain came and went throughout the day and my pool lady was able to get some vacuuming in, though it is still having issues. (Which is stressing me out but I am taking deep breaths.) I’m gonna be honest; I got super tired around 7:30 and I got on the couch. I said, you know, it’s Mother’s day so I’m gonna take an evening nap. LOL. I slept until about 9 and felt pretty good! Stayed up until 11 and went to actual bed.
Sunday morning I got up slowly but then I got a run in. We then went to Costco to attempt to beat the crowds but it’s truly no use on a weekend. But it wasn’t too bad. We didn’t need a lot. Came home and Ash ran and Dakota and I began on lunch. Since I decided to tackle my corn dip again, she made the guac. I made Isaac happy by making chicken tacos instead of beef. It was a lot of time in the kitchen! But worth it. Got started on laundry and then later, Ash, Isaac and I saw Project Hail Mary, which was just as good as folks had said. Hot take: it’s better than Interstellar. All in all, a nice weekend. I feel slightly renewed enough to make it through. I just need to be patient. With the end in sight, I can’t help but feel like I need to rush towards the end and that’s a frustrating place to be!
