Wednesday ‘Podge – Mostly on time; A to Z coming soon

  1. Big week in the US of A…do you do your own taxes? What’s something you’ve found ‘taxing’ lately

Um, taxes! We finally did ours and we owed. My husband does them for us and it’s so gosh darn annoying!

2.When it comes to travel are you a last minute packer or a lay it all out a week in advance type? Do you struggle to pack light? Share a packing tip that has worked for you.

I pack little at a time in the week before. I am not a “light” packer but I don’t take everything. I tend to think about things that might could be worn again – a shirt over a shirt, a jacket, a pair of jeans. Then I build around that so as to save space.

3.April is National Grilled Cheese Month. Hmmm…who knew it got its own month? Do you like a grilled cheese sandwich? What ingredient do you add to take yours to the next level?

Everything gets its own something! I love a grilled cheese but don’t eat them often but it is one of my middle son’s faves, along with tomato soup. I don’t make it with anything special but I do something make sure I have American and cheddar on there. It’s funny this comes up because today is my middle boy’s birthday and when asked where he wanted to go to eat, he wasn’t sure because all he really wanted was grilled cheese!

4. There’s a well known quote that says-

‘A ship in the harbor is safe, but that’s not what ships are built for.” John A. Shedd

Is constant growth necessary or do you think it’s more important to prioritize stability and peace in your life?

I think both in balance. I like finding new things, exploring, etc…but I also like stability. Mine comes from financial stability and knowing my kids are all safe and ok, well, as much as they can be.

5.Let’s wrap this up with a fun spring this or that-

  • daffodils or tulips tulips
  • lemonade or iced tea I guess lemonade but not often
  • gardening or hiking hiking
  • ladybugs or butterflies ladybugs
  • umbrella or raincoat  umbrella
  • floral patterns or polka dots  Neither, thanks

6.Insert your own random thought here.

When my birthday came around a couple weeks ago, I didn’t take advantage of any of my rewards, such as my free Starbucks. I broke myself of that bad habit I created back in Fall so I no longer stop in on my way to work. Well, since today is Isaac’s b-day, I asked if he wanted anything for breakfast and we stopped into Bruegger’s for a bagel. And then I thought, maybe I’ll get me a Starbucks sandwich today, to make up for my birthday. I am not proud of doing it – especially since we’ve been eating a small keto lunch and larger keto meal only lately – but it’ll be ok.

He decided to go to Walk-ons tonight so that’s fun; haven’t been there in a good long while. Mostly because we don’t eat out very often anymore.

Last night, I ran as soon as I got home but man was I tired. When I got home I said I was going to nap for a scant 10 minutes but I couldn’t fall asleep, so I just left to run. The kids were mowing and then Ash ran and I made eggs and bacon. We wanted to install a curtain rod and a blackout curtain for the other side of our living room – we have one on the main windows already – but Lowe’s didn’t have what we were looking for. Without that project to do, I got busy on some cleaning: microwave, load of towels, putting junk away, etc… I felt good about it! Ash had sent me this video and it motivated me to do something to push me through tired slumps. That was good; I felt accomplished before we watch Rolling Vengeance, which was not a bad 80s movie! Not a blockbuster but decent.

Anyway, we head to the beach this weekend but not to lay out; it’s a beer fest. Not super pumped for it but it’s everything else surrounding it: dinner in Apalachicola on Friday night, walking the beach Saturday morning followed by breakfast, then supposedly going back to a friend’s dad’s beach house after the fest is over. Hopefully it’ll be a good time with good weather!

  1. Happy birthday to your son! There’s a Walk-Ons not far from us but I forget it’s there so we rarely go. I think their food is pretty good though. Hope you have a fun beach weekend!

  2. Ugh to owing on your taxes. My girls love grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato soup, it is such a good lunch when it’s chilly out. Happy birthday to your son!

  3. Happy Birthday to your son! Your upcoming beach/weekend plans sound nice. My birthday is coming up and I don’t take advantage of any of the birthday freebies. I really should! Sorry you owe this year- that stinks. We don’t owe but I have to go to the post office this afternoon to mail our returns. I hate that we can’t e-file them. It’s so annoying!
