A to Z Challenge – L is for Let’s Go!

As noted in the sign up post, I decided to highlight beers I have liked. I know this sounds very surface but a lot of my personal life/hobbies revolve around it. We are homebrewers and I have – as of today – 4,582 unique check-ins on the app, Untappd. I keep track of all beers and rate them there. So, without further ado – L!

Within the last, oh five years, we have traveled a lot and been to many breweries in other states. A few of those we’ve gone back to upon revisiting said state. One such place is the KC Bier Co. in Kansas City. For those following along at home, we enjoy light German styles and this place? That’s their speciality! In fact, they also have a German food menu and are a host for watching soccer (mainly Premier League, not Bundesliga, but still.)

We first went here in July 2024 on our way back from the family trip: Arizona–>New Mexico –>Colorado—>Missouri (KC and St. Louis)–> Little Rock. We ended up in KC during July 4th and I was shocked how few people were in the downtown area. KC Bier Co was a stop for the 5th and it was about 20 minutes from where we stayed. The fun part was driving there because the route took us through the Mission Hills neighborhood which, if I had to wager a guess, is where the NFL players live – they’re huge mansions!

Anyway, the brewery is really cool; they have communal tables, just like if you were at Oktoberfest. I thought I took a pic of food but I guess not. I’ve had their pretzel, potato salad, and some different sausages; all good. Here you can see my family partaking. I’m sure my underaged son should not be holding that but he was seeing for how long his arm would last with an entire maß or one liter. (It’s pronounced mass but the German B is an S. It’s weird, I know.)

Their Let’s Go! lager is probably their flagship, though everything I had there was fantastic. I even gave this beer a 4.25, which is high for me! I’m usually the nicer one of the two of us; Ash is a lot more discerning. But he gave this one a 4.50! This is a brewery I have gone back to; when we drove through on our way to Iowa this past summer, we went back and you know, just as good as before. Consistency is key!
