Wednesday ‘Podge – First October ‘podge

1. What’s something that scares you?

There’s a few things but the first one I thought of was that my kids will stray from what we’ve taught them. My kids tend to be a little more down to earth than that but I still fear that they’ll get in with the wrong crowd and make bad choices.

2. Do you care where the food you eat comes from? To what degree?

I mean, I know what this question implies and I’m not a person who ensures we have all locally and safely sourced food. I would prefer grass-fed beef but mostly because it’s better for you. Now if we’re going surface-level, I do not want fast food so if there was a choice, I would not want it to ‘come from’ a fast food place.

3. What’s something you wish you’d spent more time doing when you were younger?

While I do think I had a lot of great experiences when I was younger, I wish I had gone to more concerts, especially in the late 80s/early 90s.

4. Let’s play autumn this or that….pumpkin spice or apple cider? Corn maze or haunted house? Horror film or Hallmark movie? Blanket or sweatshirt? Watch football or watch the World Series? Foilage-red, yellow or orange?

I think I actually prefer apple cider. I’d do a haunted house but I have to know what I’m getting into. I’d watch an old Horror movie. Give me a blanket! Football, always. Orange for leaves. I feel like I only ever truly see red or yellow so give me the rarer one.

5. This time last year where were you and what were you doing?

I love these kinds of questions because I get to go back to my blog and remember. HERE is the post but in a nutshell, I hadn’t gotten this job yet so I was stressing, we’d just had the infamous falling out with our neighbors, and I was just about as busy as I am now!

6. Insert your own random thought here.

It was with every intention that I’d make good meals for my kids this week while Ash is out of town and yet, I have not. Monday I made them this Costco chicken street taco thing (ok I heated up the chicken); Tuesday I had Elliot run to Publix for mac and cheese and popcorn chicken. Tonight, I have no idea. Listen, yesterday, I got home around 4:35, made sure kids ate, then left again at 5 (for Isaac’s band thing at the middle school football game) and when we got home at 8:30, I didn’t have time for anything else. In fact, I was so exhausted I got in bed at 9:30 and it was not long after I was dead asleep. I had to make up for the night before when I just could not sleep.

I wanted to make something in the crockpot but there’s no time! This morning started off wonderful because I felt rested but then Elliot woke up with an upset stomach (presumably from the spicy chicken he chose last night) and was all mad I couldn’t magically fix it. I gave him some Pepto (which, by some miracle, we had, since we honestly fixed all stomach issues by drinking ACV and lemon juice every day) but he still acted like I wasn’t helping him and you know, as a mom, that’s really frustrating. In fact, that may be my #1 complaint about parenting: being asked for help/advice, giving said help, then being told I’m wrong or not doing enough.

But I know this morning is just one small hurdle and we’ll get past it and move on. I had told them we’d have dinner out (or pick up) one day this week and I had Wednesday in mind but didn’t we already do that the last two? Sigh. My mom might come through town tomorrow night anyway and we’d end up eating out after Isaac’s last meet so I have to secure those plans before moving on for tonight. Anyway, I have a bill to edit, we have a mini-celebration today in-office for the three October birthdays, and I need to get things straight so I can finish up this week on a high note!

  1. Some weeks are just like that. Things balance out eventually. I love Publix chicken fingers : ) I’m glad you got some rest, your schedule reminds me of how crazy the days are with school aged children in the house. Take care!

  2. Praying that your kids will not stray. I prefer grass fed also. Heck, I should have looked at a post from last year. Never gave that a thought. Hope your were able to see your Mom.
