1. “A daughter’s a daughter all her life, but a son’s a son til he takes a wife.” What say you? Elaborate.
I see what the phrase is saying: obviously once the son is more involved with a woman other than his mom, he’s out there on his own but I think it can be said that way about both. Once you leave the home and are making your own family, it’s your world. But for me, both my sons and my daughter will always be special aside from whomever they choose to share their worlds with.
2. Something you’ve seen recently that was ‘cuter than a June bug’?
Hmm, not sure. I’m not one to exclaim, “how cute!” I guess I will say my friend’s dog, Daisy. She’s a big old pitt bull mix and so sweet. She gets so excited to see people her whole body shakes side to side.
3. ‘You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy ice cream and that’s pretty much the same thing.’ Agree or disagree? Last time you had a serving of happiness ice cream? Dish-cone-milkshake-sundae…which one do you choose?
Ice cream is pretty good and sometimes that is what I’m in the mood for. One mother’s day, I was in a good mood and decided to buy some. We got this waffle cone caramel kind and it was amazing! I guess I prefer just a bowl of it, maybe with some hot fudge. I know my kids and my husband all like waffle cones.
4. What is one way/area in which you’re currently ‘swimming against the tide‘?
I guess, since some people still think Covid is a major issue of contention, I am going against the tide on the beliefs that I should be worried. I take care of myself, eat well, take vitamins, exercise. That, to me, is the right way to handle it and I am amazed how many people would rather just take whatever medication the government tells them. I’m sorry if you see it another way; I am totally ok if you do and I accept your beliefs. I just know that discussing this opposite view has gotten people in trouble and ruined relationships and that’s so sad to me.
5. Three things you’re looking forward to this summer?
I am looking forward to: our Ohio trip (where Ash grew up; will be seeing some old friends and just visiting the area), our pontoon boat trip (renting them in the bay in Destin/Ft. Walton with our friends), and, if we are being honest, getting through it. Money-wise, I’ll be pretty thin so once we get back to Fall, I can make a decent amount and save, save, save!
6. Insert your own random thought here.
I KNOW y’all are tired of hearing me whine so I’ll be a little more positive. I was thinking this morning how some of the happiest people seem to be the ones who have little, do without much. Now obviously, that sort of exists in a world where they don’t have a whole set-up of bills to pay and kids to feed, etc. But I am trying to keep that idea of just being satisfied in my mind. I flip flop between feeling really happy about everything in my life and then feeling so stressed. It always works out, you know? So what am I complaining for?
I reached out to that company about the job yesterday and they said they’re actually still conducting interviews and she’d let me know in 1-2 weeks. There’s two ways to look at this: a. they haven’t found anyone who’s the perfect fit, myself included or b. even as a private company they have diversity hire rules where they have to interview a certain number of people who check boxes. So who knows, but for now I’m just going to live in limbo. And be happy!
I prefer waffle cones when I having ice cream. Enjoy your trip to Ohio and wishing you good luck on getting the job!
I do think it’s all in how we choose to see things. Maybe not all but mostly. I hope you have a wonderful summer, enjoy your travels and time with friends too. You are right…things do work out and i hope the job is yours come fall.
I love that you are choosing happy! I haven’t eaten ice cream in a long time but a big scoop in a waffle cone would be the way to go!
I commented but it isn’t here so I’m going to try again – I hope you don’t get two from me!! I’m glad you are choosing “happy”! Good choice! I haven’t eaten ice cream in years but if I were to have some, a big scoop in a waffle cone sounds yummy!
I’m so with you on #4. That waffle cone ice cream does sound good. Have a great rest of your week!
I like your answer for #1. Daisy sounds sweet. Enjoy your upcoming trips. Thank you for sharing your random thoughts. I pray everything works out for you.
