Wednesday ‘podge – Simply nuts

1. February 16th is National Almond day…are you a fan? If so what’s your favorite food item or recipe that contains almonds?

They’re fine; there’s other nuts I prefer, such as macadamia, pecans, or pistachios. I enjoy pretty much all deserts that include almonds.

2. Something you are currently ‘nuts’ about?

This sounds dumb but I really love being a fan of the metal genre. I’m nuts about it and love finding new bands.

3. Something currently driving you ‘nuts’?

My memory! Despite the calendar feature on my phone, I feel like I am always behind and forgetting. So every day I feel like there’s something I’m simply missing.

4. Something you recently bought for ‘peanuts’?

Hmm tough question. Trying to think of the last steal I got. I guess it’d be the tin foil I picked up at the dollar store. But really, it’s now the 1.25 store. LOL.

5. Share a favorite quote uttered by any U.S. President ( if you’re not an American, a quote made by the leader of your own country).

Since I teaching writing and it’s kind of my thing, this one will suffice:

William H. Taft:

“Don’t write so that you can be understood; write so that you can’t be misunderstood.”

6. Insert your own random thought here.

OK I am motivated today! Yesterday was crazy because I had to drop Isaac off at school so he’d turn in these forms. They’re doing the mandatory 7th grade shots AT school and it became even more important when I got a letter saying our pediatrician will no longer take our insurance. Sigh. So on the same day my dearest son got invited to be in the Beta Club, he goes and forgets this all-important paperwork! LOL. So anyway, I took him, came home and threw together a lunch, then drove about 30 minutes west to meet my daughter’s class for a field trip. They went to this wildlife place for a nature hike and fishing. I left there around one, headed to Publix and then, despite being very hungry, went for a two mile run, which felt amazing. I had gotten out of the normal habit after the race so I’m back to it now.

Made Mexican salads and boy were they good!

Then we had a make-up game for Dakota’s team; they’d canceled one weekend because it was too cold. It was a good game too: her team crushed their opponents 10-1 AND she had two goals! She claims she has scored in past seasons but I am convinced that was her very first time. Trust me, a mom keeps track. She looked great out there, for someone who is not competitive in the slightest. My boys want to win and she’s all la-di-da about everything.

So today, I have to grade a lot and film my next youtube video, then later, I have to take Dakota to piano then rush home, feed everyone, then head to a brewery for Brew Club executive committee meeting. Always busy, I tell ya!

  1. Good for you for running. I’d probably have gone home and napped lol. I do a Mexican style salad quite often (do you put meat on yours?) and we love them. A taco without the shell more or less which feels healthier. Enjoy all your busy…it’s a crazy exhausting precious season of life.

  2. My memory drives me nuts too sometimes. I feel like there’s so much going on I just seem to forget things. My mother in law mentioned about the dollar tree being 1.25 now…lol. A mom definitely keeps track of their kids scores, though I have been known to miss a few…lol.
