Honestly, we got back into town Monday night after vacation and it wasn’t until Friday that I felt more like myself. I had a rough time getting back to my schedule and the motivation. I had this great flow going where I graded my papers and kept up with classes but that all fell by the wayside during our Arizona trip. But, I think I’m finally back.
Quick recap then? Friday afternoon, I left work feeling pretty good. Had only a little while to rest before going out though. Meanwhile, Ash was driving back from Atlanta. I may have mentioned that we had to leave the car there because before vaycay, it was acting up. But the rental car worked out and he made a trip there and back in one day. Lots of driving! But we got to relax/have fun because we had tickets for Extreme Midget Wrestling! Ha ha. I know, it sounds ridiculous but it was super entertaining. We had front row seats and uum, it was definitely up close and personal!
He’s not pictured here, but the tallest guy on their roster (at 4’11”!) came out of the ring and sat on my lap at one point. Gross! So much sweat. But hilarious too. We had a good time and some decent food actually. I had a pork street taco and later, a small bowl of grits. Sounds weird, I know, but this is the South.
Because there was a tropical storm coming our way they canceled all sports stuff on Saturday but of course, we actually didn’t get much of it. I mean, we got some rain and it was ugly but it was not bad at all. So we had that day to catch up – laundry, groceries, some Goodwill shopping. I’m basically going as myself for Halloween. But no, for real, I am going to wear my battle jacket, black jeans, then go all out on some metal makeup. There’s a party we’re attending Saturday so I’ll have a chance to experiment with it. I thought about doing corpse paint but on a daily basis, I’m not even good at regular makeup, let alone this:
Ha, no way. I can’t pull off a King Diamond look, no way. I am going to go for more subtle, like this:
We’ll see. Halloween is a little ways away so I have time. Oh, so Sunday, we got up early to brew. We were doing it for a friend because he’s having a baby shower for the guys in a month or so and wants homemade beer. He’s done so much for us in terms of house projects (he also helped us install our pool cover yesterday) so it was the least we could do. It was a long day, with those projects and I made a test run Thanksgiving meal, which turned out so amazing! Sure, I was full and took an immediate nap on the couch but welcome to Sunday!
I guess I’m interpreting this week as freebie but let’s talk Halloween spookiness! These two are perfect for the season AND examples of face paint I wish I could pull off. First, good ol’ King Diamond (with Mercyful Fate.) He was in Orlando not long ago and I really with I could have gone!
Warning for the Alice vid: solidly 80s and full of sultry women? Also, this song is hilariously about pain and whatnot and yet Alice is just about the most Christian dude out there. His makeup in this vid is virtually non-existent but normally, the Alice look is something I aspire to. Also, his jacket here is on point!
A guy I know posted this past weekend about taking his son to the Ghost concert in Ottawa (I think it was Friday) – and I was like, “Oh! I’ve heard of that band!” And that is only because of you. LOL! I thought you’d find that funny, that you’re educating us non-metal music fans. 😉
Ha ha yes! I knew they were there recently. My Ghost boys. 🙂 🙂
Halloween sppokiness…yeah
Claire,
That first photo the gal looks really creepy which is perfect for Halloween if you’re into that sorta thing but oh the work involved! Thanks for joining the 4M crew on the dance floor. Here’s hoping you get back into the groove after vacation. That’s what I’m working on this morning. Have a boogietastic week, my friend!
I’ve never heard of midget wrestling. Was that in Atlanta or you left Atlanta? I’m heading there, soon. Alice Cooper is certainly an original. I remember him appearing on Sesame Street. LOL! Hope everyone is vacationed enough for a good rest of the school semester. Though Christmas time can be tough in the classroom. Good luck! Please stop by my MMMM. I have a freebie for teachers.
No, they actually came through Tallahassee. Funny stuff. And yes, Alice was totally on Sesame Street. He’s actually a relatively normal guy.
I’m happy you’re safe and missed out on most of the tropical storm damage.
I actually enjoyed “Witches’ Dance.” Very good guitar work was the key to that, as well as the middle section, which sounded like a cross between ELO and Queen.
My opinion of Alice Cooper changed completely when I saw the interview with him after Glen Campbell died. He’s the complete opposite of his stage persona. “Bed of Nails” is a great song, just solid hard rock straight through.
Yes! He’s a straight-shooter but his persona is “scary”. I love that. And yeah, Mercyful Fate, though they also look demonic, are just great song makers.
OMG ME TOO! I have to agree with John… so happy you made it home safe and sound, and WOW, front row seats!!! WOW, The tallest one being 4’11”. No. 1 he was taller than my gram. She was 4’6″, and my mom was 4′ 11″… we’re Sicilian that might explain some sorta… haha Me I’m 5′ 2″! Anyway, not to get off track your “Witches Dance” was very interesting, and well “Alice Cooper”, WOW he was young in this video! Hubby likes him being a guitar player he was lookin’ for all that and he loves the tune too! Thanks for playin’ along my friend! YOU TOTALLY ROCKED THE HOUSE! Have a great week!

Thanks for playin’ along… I added something cuz it said I entered twice. bummer… I hate when it does that… I never know what to do!
I always love your selections! I miss being a part of the metal scene – but I guess everyone I knew isn’t there anymore anyway, so it’s not the same. The music is always great, though!

I’m impressed! Front row seats! Back when I was in my early 20’s my husband and I got into wrestling. It was super popular in Tampa, FL (where we lived) and they would have weekly matches. We’d get seats up close, but not front row. That was dangerous – you could be hit by a chair or by a wrestler flying out of the ring – those guys played for keeps. Really enjoyed Alice Cooper and Bed of Nails. He has some connections with a couple of people in the area where I live and has been known to play golf here.
Yeah I know he’s a huge golf guy. Out of all the rock stars I know, I think he’d probably be one of the coolest ones to meet because it’d be super chill.
Front row seats are no joke, especially when your lap is available! 😉 I like the subtle version of the face painting – sexy ghoul! 😉
I enjoyed Alice Cooper’s Bed of Nails – I did remember seeing something about how he’s polar opposite of his stage persona – always interesting to see them non-persona. 🙂
