Just got into work and I am in some kinda shape. Yesterday was physically hard on me and then Friday was my own doing. So Friday I took a half day and Ash and I went to Tijuana Flats then started brewing. It’s a lot of work to get all that equipment out, cleaned, sanitized, and cooking. But we made a pale ale and it seems to be in fermentation mode so, yay! (i.e. the yeast started working.) Ash got the kids and I cleaned, then around 7 we went to the bowling alley with friends. Want to know my big mistake? Yeah, pro tip: don’t take allergy meds and then drink 4 beers. I was SO tired once we got back to Tiffanie’s house, I passed out with the kids!
Saturday morning, I woke up pretty darn hungover (I blame the 850; that beer is potent.) It was my first time in 94 days ignoring my fast. I had leftover hashbrown sausage cups at 8 am and then when I took Dakota to a birthday party, I drank a gigantic Gatorade. I was feeling a little more human after that. When we got done there, we met some girl scout families at Proof but neither Ash nor I drank. He had a run Sunday and neither of us felt like it. But I did eat a huge philly cheesesteak with beer cheese sauce and it was glorious. We only stayed a couple hours; I really needed a nap. But since it was also Dakota’s 6th birthday, we took her to Costco and Walmart to pick out some gifts. Luckily I did get a nap and then we went out for hibachi later in the evening. We started watching The Boys on Amazon Prime and that’s how we finished the night.
Sunday, I woke around 7:30 then got ready to hit the grocery store. I like going before everyone else, to be honest. I ran 3 miles when I got home and was feeling pretty good, if not a little irritated by the kids not cleaning up. I kind of beat myself up yesterday though. I need new running shoes so my left big toe hurts. At Costco, I somehow ran over my own toe with the cart – so then both toes hurt. Later in the afternoon, Ash decided to try out his tree saw method. It’s basically a rope you slingshot up through the branches and then it’s a chain with saw blades and two people just pull back and forth. I had the rope wrapped around my hand for grip but it somehow became untangled and pinched the crap out of my right hand. It’s all sore and bruised. THEN, we discovered that if you tied the rope to a large stick, you can get more leverage but the thing busted out from the tree and I dropped my stick, banging it into my shin. What a day!
I made tacos for dinner – Elliot had a friend over – then they went to a movie and I just read. I wasn’t feeling good – been getting a cold for a while now – so I took a bath and that was a nice end to the weekend!

Songs about dogs (or any pets) in honor of the end of the Dog Days of summer.
OK, well, the first one that came to mind says dog but doesn’t mean of the canine persuasion. 😉
And honestly, I can’t find any others I’d want to share. SO, happy Monday!
Claire,
Your weekend sounded full as usual. I hate going to the grocery store when it’s busy. Generally, Sunday afternoons aren’t too bad. We didn’t get to go yesterday since it was raining like cats & dogs. I didn’t want to step in a puddle, so we stayed home. lol Actually, it got a bit too late in the afternoon for us to drive across town since we wanted to get in bed early. I’m glad we stayed home. Now, we’re in a new week. Our school system started back today. I didn’t even know that until I asked Google. Gee, they keep going back earlier every year. That’s okay by me because soon the crowds in the mountains will slow down and we can enjoy that a whole better. 🙂 Thanks for hitting the 4M dance floor. Have a boogietastic week, my friend!
I wish Sunday afternoons were slow here but no; I think all the churchin’ folks go right after service. And wow – school already? My kids all go back the next Monday – the 12th.
A giant Gatorade will solve all kinds of problems, including hangovers.
Well, that’s different. Can’t say I have ever heard it before. You sure do lead a interesting life. ~hehehe~ I shall make not of the gatorade!!! heheh
Never had a hangover in my life, well not that I can remember……..lol
Gatorade alsoo not something I have ever add
