Wednesday Medley – A berry nice post

OMG my title is bad. WOW! Oh well, I am allowed to be cheesy here.

1.  Given all that information on this 🍓National Strawberry Day🍓, do you have a favorite recipe for strawberries?  Would you share it with us?

Honestly, I just like them as is or sliced up and in cereal. But in a Life or Crispix type cereal.

2.  Some people think the smaller, northern varieties are sweeter than the larger berries that grow in the south and in California.  What are your thoughts on that?

No idea. LOL. I will say, I once picked raspberries right from a bush in western New York and they were definitely sweeter. Perhaps the same goes for strawberries.

3.  There is a Strawberry Festival right here in Plant City, Florida (next town over from Lakeland) and it is a huge event that lasts 11 days with headliner acts each day.  Have you ever been to a Strawberry Festival?

I have been to THAT festival! We had a family reunion in Plant City one year and on one of the days, we all went over. I don’t remember a whole lot of it but I remember thinking it was pretty cool.

4.  Strawberries are grown in every US state.  Have you ever grown them in your garden?

I think we did when I was young. We had a small garden with watermelon, strawberries, and squash.

5.  Strawberry is the only fruit that has seeds on the outside, and technically it is not a berry but rather a fruit, and would you be surprised to learn that strawberries belong to the rose family?  Do you have any strawberry trivia to share with us?
Sorry, no. Though I could certainly google it… 🙂
6.  Tell us something random about your week!!
I am taking it a bit slow this week; slowing down to appreciate the hours I have now. Because A LOT of stuff is coming up in March. I have to decide about sending the kids to spring break camp, summer camp, sleepaway camp. Maybe plan a little summer vacation. I want to have the boys skip one of the 2 week summer sessions but I also don’t want them sitting around the house. It’s a lot to think about for sure.
I should have run the race route at least 2  more times by now but tomorrow is really all I have time for. I will do ok on Saturday but probably not the best. The race ends with pancakes and sausage and I just wanted to feel like I earned them.
Allergies have struck; it got warm so pollen exploded and now it’s rainy. So I’m a little worse for wear. My husband has a cold too so I am doing everything I can to ward off illness. I have no time to get sick!

  1. I know what you mean about not having time to be sick. I’ve been saying that for the last 6 weeks. I started with a cold but told it to get lost!

  2. Spring has been showing itself here in the south for a month. I’m thankful for the rain these days, although it is causing flooding in certain parts of the state, but it has delayed the pollen. I so dread when every outdoor surface is yellow. Enjoy your time off.

  3. Thanks for joining the strawberry Medley today!! It has been fun reading everyone’s answers!! Good luck with the race! Eat those pancakes, no matter your time!!
