MMMM + Please, can I get a REAL day off?

Though I woke up actually feeling rested, I didn’t much feel like coming to work. Could I get just one more day? I tell ya; if I had a day to myself in the house I would get SO much done. That was the plan for yesterday but it didn’t really go that way. ANYWAY, let’s back track.

Friday, Dakota was off school so she went into the office with me until lunch when we met up with Ash for Mexican. Seriously, we have a place that has six dollar fajitas and though you’d think that seems a bit off, they’re SO good. Anyway, we needed to hit Toys R Us for Isaac’s birthday and ended up deciding to buy a trampoline… somewhere else. So we went home and took naps, which was indeed very peaceful.

That evening, Isaac had a baseball game so Elliot came with and Ash took Dakota to Academy to get the trampoline. Success!

Saturday morning, I woke up super early (ok, 6:45) and got ready for the Palace Saloon 5k. I don’t know why I do 5ks; I’m much better at longer runs. I have to warm up and 3 miles ain’t enough to get hot. Truth be told, I felt better running the .75 miles back from the Palace – after a Fireball shot and a beer – than I did in the actual race! But anyway, got home and had a bagel and a coffee and felt ten times better about life in general, despite my garbage race time. We showed Isaac his gift – he flipped! – and then we all went out to the grocery store and then we prepped for Isaac’s bowling party!

Booking a bowling party is a pretty good deal, compared to some other options. Isaac’s five friends showed and we bowled for about half an hour before they got bored and wanted to hang out in the little arcade. Actually, that was probably the bigger draw because of the one VR type game and the ticket machines. Luckily, the party only lasted two hours so we got a brief break. Just kidding! I had to drive Isaac out to my friend Sabrina’s house to get his stitches out. Doctors charge you the flat weekend fee for that and, well, she’s a nurse. By the time we got home, I was freaking exhausted but… we started building the trampoline.

We had to break for dinner and that killed our momentum. Isaac chose Outback and we hadn’t been in a while but it was good! I love a nice medium rare steak; yummmm. The end of that night was a huge sigh of relief. Also, knowing I had little to do Sunday was also nice.

We had our normal big breakfast then Elliot helped me hide eggs for his brother and sister. After that quick five minutes- lol – we finished building the trampoline and you could say that was the last time I saw my kids all day. Pretty much because they LOVE it. I was able to mow the lawn and clean and get laundry done while they were on and off that thing all day. All in all, we had a great weekend but I sure could use one more day to rest.

Every time a kid has a birthday, my husband makes a video with pictures of the last year and picks a song that is tailored to them. This year, he picked the song from A Goofy Movie for Isaac. It’s great! I’m also going to play another from that movie because, well, it’s good!

  1. Happy Birthday to Isaac! Princess Nagger keeps nagging for a trampoline – one of these days I’m going to break down and get one for sure. We had such nice weather this weekend, she commented yet again that if we had a trampoline, she’d be on it all day! 🙂

I’m right there with you – I’d get SO MUCH done if I had the house to myself for a day!!!

LOVE the music selection! I can’t remember seeing that movie, so now I’m going to have to hunt it down… 😉 Have a great week!

Kill ‘Em With Kindness with the Bohemian Rhapsody since there’s a Last Time For Everything and a Million Reasons
