Wednesday Hodgepodge – Pressed for time

1.  Speaking of skating…when did you last ‘skate on thin ice’, ‘skate over the details’, ‘encounter a cheapskate’, or just plain skate?

I guess I will go with skating on thin ice, as I wore my husband’s patience pretty thin when I couldn’t find the tickets at the gate. LOL. We went from Island of Adventure to Universal and I swore he had them and when I looked in my wallet, I didn’t see them. BUT, they were there. It was an unpleasant moment. 😉

2. What would you say is the biggest problem of people your age?

Besides not being able to separate from their phones? The first thing that came to mind is that many people I know – mostly parents – sometimes suffer from identity crises in that they have the parent persona on all the time so when they get a chance to let it go for a bit, they get carried away. If you have a chance to go out with adults only, you get a little over-excited. Then you regret things the next day!

3. What’s your favorite accessory? Is it something you wear every day, often, or only on special occasions?

I have a funky necklace I like to put on when I get dressed up for nice occasions but I have been wearing it on teaching days lately.

4. January 20th is National Cheese Lover’s Day. Are you a lover of cheese? What’s your favorite dish made with cheese? Last thing you ate that contained some kind of cheese?

Oh my God, yes. I am a cheese hoarder, to be honest. I always want to buy specialty cheeses and pair them with beer. I would say my favorite cheese dish is mac and cheese but the gourmet kind. The last thing I ate with cheese? Hmm, we ate quite a bit of Mexican this past weekend but oh! It was on my burger at Margaritaville. Below: Whole Foods

5. What’s something guaranteed to make you roll your eyes?

Um, teenagers? No, probably just the things they say. Any new dumb catchphrase will probably do it. I think back to when I was young and we had funky phrases like “radical” and “totally tubular” and I honestly don’t think those are as dumb as “yolo” or “Netflix and chill.”

6. Your favorite book series?
Easy! Black Dagger Brotherhood – J.R. Ward.Black-Dagger-Brotherhood-Books-1024x995
7. Why did you choose your profession?
I have always loved writing and reading and English made sense. I didn’t really choose to assist the director of First Year classes at a Research I university but but I fell into it because I could do it and because I was familiar with the department and the program. I stayed because I like helping people and I’m good at teaching freshmen how to write.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
Go go go. That’s me today. I woke up thinking about a million and one things that need to get done. Oh, and money. I should have been saving for summer camp since August but well, I haven’t. Now I have to catch up and put all available funds into my savings account. It’s not expensive, really, but I need to have a good chunk of it up front. Luckily, the boys go to school util the very end of May so I have some time! But our year is filling up pretty quickly so I had better go make a list! And prep for class.

  1. I’m with you on cheese : ) Oooh, the ticket mishap. I know that feeling. I also have a busy day, and my hubs home wanting me to go car shopping. Ugh. Probably in my list of top ten things I detest-ha! I think I’ve convinced him to go without me. Enjoy your day!

  2. Why did I chose my profession? Well since my profession is that of mum, I can tell you that I chose it because being a mum was the only thing I wanted to do, and I love it most of the time
