Random (Talk to us) Tuesday – Trees, tats, time

You guys, seriously, how does anyone find time to blog? I used to think I was the one with the most time but lately, I have struggled to get in a good solid 30 minutes. So this morning, I am here early JUST to write this post!

  • So ten trees were taken from my yard yesterday. This was quite a spectacle, as they had a crane the size of a bus in my driveway and the one guy was pulled up by said crane until he could cut a notch and secure a massive rope, then chainsaw through a portion of the tree, which was then hauled straight up and over my home, then laid carefully in the front yard. I was only home from about 3 PM on but Ash said the neighbors came by at intervals during the day and everyone hung out, just watching.
  • I am glad to be gone with those things, as they were huge and dangerous if they were to fall. However, I am now missing my front ones. Maybe if just one had stayed, I’d feel better but when I look at my torn up grass and the wide open space – though that will be awesome for the boys – I just feel a certain sadness. Have I mentioned that I kind of hate change?
  • Am I the only mom who gets home from work and has no clue what to make for dinner? I used to plan these things out but lately, I’ve been winging it every night. Sometimes, it’s nuggets and fruit for the boys and Ash and I forage for sustenance later on. That’s not living!
  • But back to the trees… my deck is now more open and no longer a receptacle for the sweetgum spiky balls of doom. This will be AWESOME, especially when my A/C unit is finally moved from back there to the side of the house (where air conditioners belong.) Maybe for once, I can have an actual backyard area that I don’t avoid like the plague. Wee!
  • Oh, so yeah, on Friday, I got my tattoo. I admit to being really nervous during the day each time I thought about it but as it got time for my appointment, I reached my zen moment; I was confident and excited.  It was a pretty awesome experience. The pain was intense but after a while, I numbed out. I am really happy with how it turned out. (Still a little shiny from the layer of Aquaphor; see also: edited during the healing phase.)
  • I am now considering doing a cover up of my other calf tat, which is basically a tribal pair of wings, though pretty abstract. I would like them to be more wing-like, with a lot more detail. Alas, money situation forbids it any time soon.
  • If I had one wish today it would be for a few more hours. I have one million things to accomplish and just three or four more hours would rock so hard.
  • Ok, that’s all for today. Man Candy is model Kevin Freed. Not much to say about him other than he’s just really good-looking.

  1. Did you take before/after pictures of the trees? I’d love to see that – and how cool you’ll now be sap free on your deck! 🙂

I’m home all day and I still wing it for dinner – mostly because the hubby is teaching a night class this term, so it’s just me and the kidlets for dinner. I usually give them something quick and easy, and forage for myself. 😉

LOVE the tattoo!! The other one you want to get sounds cool, too. I want to get a dragonfly on the back of my neck, but I haven’t budgeted for it yet – either money wise or zen wise. 😉

Yummy man candy, as usual! 🙂

  2. I try to meal plan, but life gets in the way in the summer especially. It’s easier in the winter when we are home more. I’ve been winging it recently too. With Nick out of town, making food for the three of us (really two and half) is challenging.

    Love the tat–it looks great!

We had a tree removed and another trimmed recently. The place where the one stood still gets me as strangely blank.

  3. It’s hard to find time. I do mine when I’m at work and in front of a computer anyway! LOL!

I love that Tattoo! It’s great! I just won a gift certificate for a tattoo and I have NO idea what to get… How do you even decide?

    1. I thought about it FOREVER and wanted it to have some personal meaning. Also, if you’re the type, you have to make sure you really do want to commit to that idea forever.

  4. I’m a SAHM and am finding it hard to meal plan. I use be better about this, but thanks to blogging I am not or at least not so good lately. I really need to set my priorities in line better. We have to eat to survive. Okay, maybe if we didn’t eat then we’d be skinny again. Just saying is all…nah, I think this would wreck my metabolism all the more. lol You know, my body would think its starving and going to starvation mode meaning all fat is reserved for survival. No thank you! I better cook good meals and eat properly.

  5. I think I saw the tree removal on instagram. Was that you? I hate change too. You’re not alone. Also, I stay at home and struggle with what to fix for dinner every night. It sucks.

I love your new tat! That’s so cool! I’m wanting to get one more. We’ll see what happens.

  6. I thought I would have more time to blog once Ryan was done with school, but we are outside most of the days. Kinda chilly and cloudy today so I am getting my blog time.

Love the tattoo, it turned out great.

  7. You finally did it and it looks awesome!

No trees? I wish we had more, I love the privacy they offer.

I could use more hour in my day too but I think it wouldn’t be long before I would need more again. Maybe I just need to learn to sleep like a normal person then my days wouldn’t be so hard.

    Thanks for joining the party!

  8. It makes me sad to cut down trees, but sometimes you’ve just got to. We’ve got this huge ficus in the backyard that is our best shade tree, but it’s doing a number on our foundation, and must so soon. Ugh. Love the tattoo!
