Funny story recap

A TA came into my office to tell me of a girl who, yesterday, stopped into his office because she saw him conferencing. She had gone to our Reading/Writing center for help but they were booked for the day. Now, I saw this girl leave said center in a huff so I can see how she thought her effort of finding a random teacher made sense.

Anyway, her paper was a comparison of American heroes to Greek ones. The teacher said he read her paper, in which she used A Knight’s Tale as her example, and waited until the end to tell her that the movie is set in England. I can only imagine the expression on her face, the shame she must have felt!

Seriously though, American knights? What world does this girl live in?

  2. I am sorry to see that your blog has attracted a readership of at least one moron. However, the sheer totality of his “mistakes” (as if murdering the English language in such a brutal fashion could be considered a mere mistake!) makes me wonder if his ejaculation is not meant to strike a chord of irony.

Alas, Article 1, Section 9 of the US Constitution ruined some of my family’s plans for this new nation. Blah…

But, seriously, how in the world can people be that ignorant of their own history? I am constantly mystified at how stupid some college students are and how they got so far being so dumb.

  3. (I think matt’s kidding.)

But yes, completely mystified is correct. I don’t know how we’re making it harder to get into college and yet, somehow, these kinds of students still get in.
