September Currently

I had to do a double take because, wait, what? It’s September? Oh yeah, guess it is! OK, I’ll participate.

CURRENTLY | Adjusting (to): The shift from Summer to Fall. I do love it but it’s always jarring. Things like, no longer feeling like going for a swim, seeing that one tree on a walk who is clearly gearing up to change colors and lose leaves, the impending football season that always indicates Summer is over, and the feeling that I’m well and good into the semester. Plus, I usually start bringing out fall decor mid-September and that’s going to be here before we know it!

CURRENTLY| Baking/Cooking: Hmm, nothing new really but probably once a week, I am making sheet pan fajitas. It’s SO easy: I buy three packages of the chicken tenderloins and cut them up. I marinade them in olive oil and some white wine vinegar, along with: chili powder, smoked, paprika, onion and garlic powder, and salt and pepper. I cut up a red, orange, and yellow pepper, along with some red onion and bake at 425 for about 23 minutes. Once out, I put another sheet pan on top and let it sit. Always great served over yellow rice with some sour cream and guac.

CURRENTLY Decorating: My classroom is really the only thing. Last year I really struggled with figuring out what to put up but this year, I am doing much better.

CURRENTLY| Balancing: All my school work. I teach for two other schools and have 2 class apiece so there’s quite a bit of grading. In my planning periods (1st and 4th) I have to bang all that out.

CURRENTLY| Learning: To let go of some of the things I have handled for my oldest. He’s 19, has a full time job and a girlfriend who lives on campus. While he does still live at home, I cannot organize his laundry or eating or coming and going habits. He does still need to be respectful of our time but I have let go of some of my tendencies to control.
