What a weekend. Nothing major going on but it felt busy. Friday night I came home and made tacos and guac right away. Three of us ate it, as my middle doesn’t care for beef tacos and my oldest was at work. I know we watched movies but can’t recall which. We did bowl some but Ash was annoyed by it so we quit pretty early. We also subsequently had some good talks about all this perimenopause junk, which was good. I barely notice when I’m acting differently since I’m just riding the wave but it’s there and it’s going to happen so I’d better learn to navigate this time of life!
Saturday morning we got up and started on brewing our Czech Pilsner. It was a long brew day! The mill had some issues so that took extra time; the sparge actually took less time than normal but then it was a 90 minute boil. Elliot was at work (and busy due to graduation weekend) and Dakota had a birthday party/sleepover so the only kid left was Isaac so once we finished, we went up to Texas Roadhouse. It was then that I realized that I had been fasting from about 9 pm Friday until nearly 4 pm! That was a good gap and you know, I wasn’t too hungry. Which is good since we are purposely not eating at all today. It’s time to reinsert one fasting day per week. We’ve done it before and we can do it again!
Anywho, after eating, we were super full so we poured some bourbon and sat down to watch movies. Around 6, the neighbors asked if we wanted to come over around 8:30 since they were making a fire. We took our last drinks and Yetis of water and hung out with them until midnight! I hate drinking late but sometimes you do it because the situation arises. And I did have fun socializing.
Ash and I both ran Sunday, though took our time getting there. I did have a “mom accomplishment” as I called it: since we’ve gone back to running, I’ve struggled a little and been doing run/walks. On Sunday, I only ran a mile but I didn’t stop at all! I was pretty proud of me.
I puttered around the house, starting laundry and cleaning, before going to the store to make a large lunch. Isaac had requested my chicken/mashed potatoes/green beans. After lunch, a friend of ours came over for a bit because we had some brewing supplies for him, so that was kind of fun. We talked for a while and then retreated into bowling. I made it to 2nd place, which was quite the accomplishment, since the high scores now are pretty difficult to achieve on a regular basis.
The afternoon/evening was all kinds of busy but not for me, really. My daughter went to the neighborhood pool with friends, then family fun day at the church before Youth. Elliot got home from work and his girlfriend came over. Then my pool lady showed up. We’re desperately trying to get this pool in order but it seems to be resisting the chemicals a bit; mostly I just think there was A LOT of algae in it this year. I think I might still cover it this coming winter but I might maintain more chlorine.
Ash and I just watched a couple bad movies (Elvira! LOL) and went to bed a little early. I get such crap sleep lately, it doesn’t much matter. I’m either too hot, too cold, or just uncomfortable. And I hate waking up and having racing thoughts. Ugh.
But enough complaining; let’s be positive! Another busy week ahead. Nothing tonight really, but tomorrow I have to go back to work in the evening for Honors Night. Wednesday my daughter has her final band concert of the year. Thursday we’re going to a concert in Dothan. Friday we drive back (and I have to call out in the am but I plan to be back by lunch – it’s teacher appreciate week and they’re taking us all out). Saturday I decided we’d do my mother’s day thing instead of Sunday. We’re going to go to brunch at Deep, which I have never had but hear is good. I’m excited for it, actually. Should be a fun day. I don’t ever really ask for much from my family on Mother’s Day; just take me out to eat and be nice to each other. In the past, we’ve picked blueberries but the place we went didn’t open for u-pick last year and they aren’t this year either. I think there’s another place but I doubt we’ll do it, unless the kids bring it up. I don’t want to force anyone. Anyway, time to get to work. How was everyone’s weekend?

It sounds like you had a great mix of fun, house(home) work, and relaxation!
