Friday Five – I made it, sort of

  1. I left after 5th period yesterday feeling icky. Allergies, headachey, and that heavy sort of feel I get before getting sick. So, I went to Publix and got one of those immunity shot things (I’m sure they do nothing but I convince myself they do) and I even got to briefly ogle the hot produce guy, then I went home and sat in the sauna for a good 15 minutes. My son said he wasn’t feeling good either so he got in it before me, meaning it was nice and toasty once I got in. I then set an alarm for 30 minutes…and proceeded to sleep nearly 90.
  2. I guess I just needed that rest. As noted in my Thursday post, I have been burning the candle at both ends for far too long without any intentional stops. Sure, I have been running some, walking, and doing a bit of reading but none of it has felt like a rest for me. And maybe that’s what I need more of. Hard to though when you feel like so many people rely on you and you can’t, for one second, take a step back and say “no, not this time.”
  3. Lately, as one of our weekly keto meals, we’ve been eating Publix bratwursts. A couple times now, those have been sold out so I picked up kielbasa instead. You must understand that my husband has a lot of weird ideas about food. Until a year ago, sausage of any kind wasn’t even on the approved list. Well, we made those kielbasas last night and I am convinced they’re almost identical with the exception of maybe a little more garlic. Either way, they were fine – and filling – which is what I like about that meal. Two sausages, some sauerkraut (for me; he’d never touch that!) and a little spicy mustard. Yum.
  4. I’m hungry today though and not sure why. I normally don’t eat anything until at least 11 but already I’m feeling it. Back in the Fall I started a habit of going to Starbucks on my way to work and getting a breakfast sandwich. I then added about 10 pounds that I have since lost. The key to that stuff is to only do it sometimes, not every day. I almost went today due to my hunger but I’m staying strong. I’ll save it for later when we have tacos and guacamole.
  5. The only plan we have this weekend is to brew. It’s supposed to rain all day tomorrow, stopping by evening. I hope that’s true because the temp is also supposed to drop and I would love to have a fire. This past fall/winter, we didn’t have nearly as many as we normally do, due to warmer temps and rain on weekends. What good is a fire pit when you can’t use it? Anywho, hope everyone has a lovely weekend; I plan, in my free time, to tidy the house, drink some beer, and watch some movies. Sounds fabulous.
