A to Z Challenge – O is for Of Myth and Legend

As noted in the sign up post, I decided to highlight beers I have liked. I know this sounds very surface but a lot of my personal life/hobbies revolve around it. We are homebrewers and I have – as of today – 4,582 unique check-ins on the app, Untappd. I keep track of all beers and rate them there. So, without further ado -O!

In case you didn’t know, Decatur, GA has a lot of good breweries! (And one awful one – do NOT go to Wild Heaven!) We originally started visiting Atlanta a few years ago as a little weekend trip to see what kind of beer that area was making and ended up finding that staying just outside the city proper yielded way better places.

Lost Druid does not disappoint! They have a huge taproom, great food menu, and always have a variety of styles on tap. Of Myth and Legend is a Kentucky Common, an historical beer. This from the BJCP site:

A true American original style, Kentucky Common was almost exclusively produced and sold around the Louisville Kentucky metropolitan area from some time after the Civil War up to Prohibition. Its hallmark was that it was inexpensive and quickly produced, typically 6 to 8 days from mash to delivery. The beer was racked into barrels while actively fermenting (1.020 – 1.022) and tightly bunged to allow carbonation in the saloon cellar.

We have gone here – I think – three times now; the first being my favorite time because we met the owners and talked to them a while.

I appreciate a place with variety; so many breweries have maybe 4-5 beers on tap and 3-4 of them are IPAs. Come on now – we know that trend is dying!
