Friday Five – So ready to peace out!

  1. This has been such a long week! It is a miracle that it is actually Friday. I have a headache and don’t particularly feel motivated but hey, as it is Friday, I think I can pull it together and get a lot done today, especially since I have my students doing assignments that don’t require much on my part – purposely!
  2. We went to trivia last night and while we didn’t win any rounds, Ash and I did win the costume contest. The competition wasn’t much but we pulled it off. We each got to pick a free shirt from the brewery. Fun part being that we don’t much care for that brewery! Picture below.
  3. While we lucked out that we could not longer go to a brewfest this weekend (ATF said no to Florida breweries in Georgia, apparently) we are still BUSY. Tomorrow, I have to take my son to work early, then Ash wants to brew, but we also have a zoom call with his family at noon. And I had mentioned, though not sure she’ll remember, to a neighbor that we’d be free to hang out tomorrow evening. We shall see!
  4. My students in Eng 3 had a creative project today where they either crew a map of the journey or a modern interpretation of the albatross, after reading Rime of the Ancient Mariner, which I really enjoyed. I had not read it in a long time so I found it quite engaging. They stressed over the assignment though!
  5. Luckily, today is moving right along but we have a pep rally later and I also have to sub in 6th. Really looking forward to getting home today and, well, hope everyone has a nice weekend!

  1. That is neat that you won the costume contest- those are great costumes. Well, by now your day is even more close to being done!! I almost picked up a sub job today but didn’t. When the end of a school day comes along on a day that I didn’t sub, I think that I should have because the day would be over by then!! The school days do always end, thankfully! I hope you have a great weekend!

  2. Congrats on winning the costume contest – you look very Oktoberfesty!

I’ve never read Rime of the Ancient Mariner, but I remember my dad talking about his various “albatrosses”.
