- I’m just busy all the time! I always counted on office hours or at-home time to blog but my free time is either spent planning, grading, or in some cases, subbing another class. At a private school, we are often the subs. But I am here and doing well!
- I feel like I’m getting accustomed to the schedule, the classes, and the students. Today, I don’t have my sophomores because each class has a one-day retreat elsewhere. Tomorrow, I won’t have juniors. I enjoy the kids and the content, though always feel like I’m rushed.
- In other life news, all is well. My daughter had her birthday party this past weekend, though her actual b-day was earlier in the month. She had a good time and her friend from pre-school was able to come, even though they live about 4 hours away. Before that, on Friday night, Ash and I went out to dinner, since we can no longer meet up for lunches during the week – something we’ve done forever!
- But that was really nice; to do something just he and I. Tonight, he has a later fantasy football draft so we’re doing dinner at one of our favorite Mexican places and then hopping next door to meet his friend and fellow drafter.
- We seem to a be a bit freer right now since I opted my son out of soccer. There are two teams in this division for his age group and they stuck him on the, well, bad one. My son – and I am so not trying to be that mom who thinks her kid’s amazing – is someone who plays all game, is integral to the team. So why they stuck him on the team with the bench-riders is beyond me, except they were trying to balance it out. I called and they said the roster for the other one is full. So right now he is waitlisted, but in the meantime, he is just…not playing. It’s weird. I mean, it was by choice and maybe this was meant to be. If he’s stuck around, we’d hate every weekend, losing.
- My oldest is about to turn 18 so that’s on our minds. We are not doing anything super special; he wants to take his girlfriend to a local amusement park Saturday, which interferes with our previous lunch plan. So we might be back to Friday evening dinner, if she’s allowed to go. But we aren’t giving him anything – he already has a car – and he isn’t quite moving out yet, so it’s a weird time.
- This weekend is free, far as I know, and I am happy for it! My school has a half day Friday and then no school Monday for Labor Day and wow, I am excited for a nice break! We might- no we most definitely will – brew on Sunday. I ordered a kit for a Japanese Rice Lager I am super excited to try, now that we’ve figured out lagering.
- I’ve been so busy I haven’t had time to keep up with world events and you know, I do not miss it. I heard about the Cracker Barrel rebrand, of course: the one thing bringing the left and right together! Don’t change it!
LOL, so true about Cracker Barrel. Thought one of the “sides” may not care as much as the other :). Great to hear from you! I’m glad all is going well. I am not surprised that you’re busy beyond belief at school. I had a six week long term sub gig three ago (shudder!!!) and I didn’t even have to plan the lessons- the teacher had all that done. Merely implementing, photocopying, helping with grading (the teacher did some of it) kept me insanely busy. Then I was so tired once home. I think I kept blogging but it was much less. Something had to give… I hope all continues to go well and send the internet updates when you can :).
