Actually starting this one Sunday, since I am sitting on my computer. Speaking of, the new job gave us Macbooks and I have had to adjust to a smaller machine. Now I am on my normal big laptop and find I am making typing mistakes!
OK, Monday now and I didn’t get too far yesterday! I’m currently in my classroom, planning for tomorrow. I am getting the hang of what needs to be done, though dreading having to get plans together for weeks in advance, when I am more of a day to day teacher. We shall see.
Anyway, Friday was a little wonky with first day stuff then having to rush home and immediately change hats. I threw my running clothes on, Ash and I packed the car, then headed to the civic center. We parked, found brewer check-in, and got our keg stored then the club tent/table all set up. I did not take a lot of photos and I am too lazy to add them; sorry! The beer mile was at 6:15 and we stood around a while beforehand. Ash and two of our friends dressed up in inflatable dinosaur costumes and I know people got pics but I don’t have one readily available. It was pretty funny though!
I can’t recommend doing such a thing. It was pretty rough! The first two went down ok but by #3, I was feeling pretty full and gross. I did not throw up, though I definitely felt like it there for a min! I was super glad when it was over. Of course, then we went to the brewers’ dinner after and there was more beer, but also, food. Fun time. Was very glad to be home!
Saturday morning, I got right up and showered, then went to the store with my daughter before we left for the whole day. We needed to be back at the civic center by 10:30, even though brewers’ hour doesn’t start until 12. But that worked out because we got all set up and ran through procedures with the other members serving at the club tent. We got around to all the homebrewers and a few commercial beers; we tend to stay away from those since we’ve had most all of them anyway. It was a good day but it’s always long. You have to be “on” all day too; talking to other brewers and then attendees. It’s just A LOT. When we got home, I literally just sat.
OOPS. It’s now Tuesday and I am finally able to sit down. Sunday was busy as well for me; got up and took the kids school shopping, then did laundry and made a big lunch. Fair to say, we also watched some movies and drank some beer, though I was upset with Elliot over God knows what so it was fraught with strife for a bit. We talked though so that was good. He’s in a weird space right now, post-high school.
Anyway, Monday went well, class-wise. I am getting the hang of everything here. Today we have to work on the summer reading assignment and while I know what I want to do, I am also not quite ready this morning to do so. I am sure it’ll be fine.
Lots to get used to in these early days. You’ll likely get in a rhythm with the planning and eventually it will feel good to know you’re ahead and also know what’s coming. Especially with you traveling and needing to leave a sub with plans. Also, I would definitely have thrown up lol. Have a great day!
