- I made it through my first full day at the school, though it was a truncated type of thing. We saw new kids in the morning then returning students walked around in the afternoon, but since they didn’t need anything from me, I didn’t talk to any. Today, we had shortened periods and I had to go over the syllabus, talk about Summer Reading, and invite them to the Google Classroom. It’s a lot! Definitely ready for my weekend.
- Later this evening, I will be running the Beer Mile at our civic center. It’s a tradition before the beer festival that they’ve had a few years now. It involves chugging a beer every quarter mile you run. I’m not expecting to get a great time but it should be…interesting. My husband and two friends will be doing it in…dinosaur costumes. LOL.
- I am not used to GOING to work every day. It’s been a while! My last month in-office was August 2024 but then I went back to college teaching and I only had to go onto campus twice a week. So I have come home every day this week just totally exhausted – body-wise.
- I had a couple beers Wednesday night and Ash didn’t want to drink so that kind of worked out to keep me limited. I felt like I needed them! We watched the first episode of Hard Knocks, which always signifies that Fall is coming because we’re in NFL pre-season. I love that show; it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy about football.
- Thursday night, I had no intentions of cooking – that’s for sure! So the whole family went to Texas Roadhouse and it was nice; way better than our Outback experience. It was exactly what I needed after all this new stuff and exhausting long days. OK, I have about 35 minutes until I can leave so I am going to get caught up and whatnot. Have a good weekend!
Hang in there! That first month is a doozy in terms of everything being new, coming off of summer, and settling in to the work routine.
I’m glad your TR experience was a good one! We don’t have one super near us so it’s always a planned in advance restaurant experience for us. It never disappoints! I’m sure the weekend was so welcomed… you had a lot going on during the week. You’ll get used to everything but I’m sure it’s daunting right now. Hope next week goes great for ya!
