I don’t know how it’s already 9:15 but this reminds me of a professor I worked at FSU with and whenever I ended up in the elevator with him, I’d kindly ask ‘how’s it going?’ and he always just said ‘FAST’.
SO, our Friday plan HAD been to leave for the beach by 8 with my daughter, son, and his gf in tow. But the radar looked pretty bad. I wasn’t down to drive nearly two hours to get rained out, before having to drive an additional three onto my parents’ house. So we adjusted. She came over and I took everyone to Panera. Then my daughter and I just went ahead on to Pensacola. We gain and hour going west, so that is always nice. We had lunch then went to the mall. My mom always buys Koda something so she got a romper and a nice top and some shorts. We went home and snagged my dad then went to my favorite brewery there, Alga. They had 9 beers I had never tried! And almost all were solid. I didn’t give anything a bad rating.
We went back home to make a pot roast and we probably drank too much but it was a nice evening. The next morning, we semi-planned to go to the beach but my mom wasn’t feeling great. Once she ate she was fine but we were looking at the hourly. Now, if we had gone on the hourly forecast alone, we’d have never gone. But the radar looked ok so we drove down to Pensacola beach and had a great time! We stayed about 2-3 hours and by then it was just getting too hot. Headed home to shower and go to the store. It did rain then but not for long. We made tacos and guac for dinner and my sister and boyfriend came to dinner.
The next morning we had reservations for 11 0’clock brunch so we had some time to kill. Koda and I walked up to a playground in their neighborhood, just to waste time and get some activity in.
Brunch was really good. It’s a place I’d been before but not in their new location. I had an amazing bowl of shrimp and grits and we also had blue crab corn fritters. So tasty! But man was I full. The drive back was uncomfortable and add onto it on and off rain, and that kind of sucked. When we got home, my son and his gf were here and while I caught up on the house stuff, they swam with my daughter. I was supposed to hop on the bike for 20 but I was just exhausted! Once things calmed down, I sat in my chair and watched Cabaret, because I have always loved that movie. I think Michael York is adorably dorky and of course. Liza is a classic. Went to bed around 11 but only slept until 4, when I felt wide awake! It was everything I could do to fall back to sleep. Sigh.
This morning, I have a lot of work work to do and I will ride; think I might throw on Godfather 3 (people crap on that one but I am particularly fond of it) and then who knows what else. The weekend was nice and I was glad to get away but now it’s time to live, you know, life.

I’m partial to gulf coast beaches:-). That looks amazing!
That sand looks inviting. I’m glad you were able to get away for a couple of days and enjoy some down time. Sounds like you made the most of it. Have a great week!
The beach is beautiful- enjoy!
The colors at the Pensacola beach are stunning!
