Wednesday ‘Podge – gray day

1. What’s your favorite room in your house and why?

Hmm, that’s a good questions. Probably our sun room/dining room. It’s a longer room with windows and a glass door. We used to just have it as a kind of open space with a couch and stuff but then we got a big square 8 person table and that’s where I sit to do work. It’s very sunny and the music system is in here too.

2. What’s something that will instantly annoy you?

When I ask a kid to do something and they don’t do it soonor at all. I always say “Do you guys think in your head, ‘mom wants me to do this so I think I will just not do it.? They think I’m being crazy but I mean, COME ON.

3. May 28th is National Hamburger Day…will you celebrate? How do you like yours? If you’re not cooking at home is there a favorite place you like to go for a burger? Did you ever work in a fast food  restaurant?

I most likely will not celebrate because we ate them on Monday. I like all manner of burgers – smash, loaded with toppings, funky toppings even. We may have them once a week if not every two weeks here. My kids are very basic and I’m the only one who puts more than cheese. One of my favorite places here is called Midtown Caboose and I get the one with peanut butter and jelly! They also have one with gouda, apples, and onion and it’s fantastic.

I never worked in fast food; the closest to it was a Baskin Robbins. Also, we don’t eat fast food anymore but if I was going to eat a fast food burger, I’d MAYBE go to Wendy’s; I remember liking those ages ago.

4. What are three scents you like?

The scent of fire in the air just as it is turning fall, gardenias, a nice clean pilsner

5. What do you miss most about being a kid?

Feeling carefree. And even then, the things I was concerned with as a kid held so little weight.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

They keep saying it’s going to rain, which would be fine because my yard could use it. But instead, it’s just kind of gray outside and it’s giving me some sinus issues today. I got up a little earlier than yesterday but only because my head was hurting.

In fact, I used to always get up at 6, regardless of what I was doing that day. Even though the boys always left for school at 7, I’d still get up at 6. This week though, I’ve been just sort of…laying in bed after Ash leaves for work. I can’t tell if I like this or not. I hold myself to this standard of getting up and starting my day.

Maybe I need to give myself some grace in this area. Maybe I really need the sleep. Who knows? Either way, the goal for today is to go to the UPS shipping store to send in a trade-in phone and also, mail my mom’s sunglasses back to her. I obviously have grading to do, as always.

  1. The burger with Gouda, apples and onions sounds good! I like burgers pretty basic but it’s fun, when out, to get something a bit ramped up. I wouldn’t do peanut butter and/or jelly, though! That was our day yesterday weather wise. It was supposed to rain most of the day and instead it was just cool and overcast and we got very little rain. Today though, I see it rained some, which is good. My plants can use it :). I think kids not doing things right away and parents getting frustrated is super common. You hate to nag… but that’s what happens when they don’t do what you asked right away…

  2. I’m trying to imagine the burger with pb & J . . .I’ve heard that peanut butter is definitely good on a burger but haven’t tried it. I think I would like the burger with Gouda . . .are the onions cooked? I’m trying to imagine the cold crunch of the apple . . hmmm! We’ve had so much rain here. I laughed out loud at your comment about your kids not doing things. When our kids were living at home, I remember feeling the same way!!

  3. I will gladly send the rain I have been having in my neck of the woods to you! It has been raining for a week.

Peanut butter and jelly on a hamburger…I might have to give this a try.

  4. The gouda burger sounds good, and I’d try the pb and jelly too I think. I can’t imagine the taste. We’ve had so much rain this spring and we had a downpour yesterday and again today. The sun is trying to peek out but not sure it will make it. I’m ready for some real summer weather. My hubs woke up with a sore throat and my sinuses are bothering me today too. Now I’m thinking it’s from the weather. Hope you have a great day!

  5. Your sun/dining room sounds like a great place to spend time.
We love burgers here and often have them. I love the sound of one with peanut butter and jelly on!
We’ve had quite a bit of rain over the past few days and today has been grey and gloomy but we’ve had no rain.

  6. We have a restaurant in town that has a PB&J burger that is a local fave. I’ve never tried it even when someone at my table had one. Might have to do it, but the gouda burger sounds better to me!

We’ve been getting lots of rain lately. Weird for here.
