Wednesday ‘Podge – Look at me, all posting and stuff

1. May 20th is World Bee Day…what’s something that’s kept you ‘busy as a bee’ lately?

LOL everything? From the semester winding down for the kids, to my son’s graduation and my middle’s soccer tournaments, and Ash’s bike accident, it’s been a whirlwind.

2. Do you like honey? What’s something you make or enjoy that calls for honey?

Honey is great! I prefer locally sourced or raw honey over the stuff from the bear in the store, but it’s still good. Things I like with honey: yogurt with fruit and granola, a piece of toast with peanut butter, banana slices, and honey. I also make a mean mead.

3. “Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.” Proverbs 16:24

What’s a proverb you love, or one that speaks to you or has helped you in some way?

I’m not particularly well-versed in these so I had to look some up. This one is everything I need right now in my life.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

I’m so worried all the time about where I’ll end up, job-wise but I know I have to offload this to God. It’s a daily struggle but I am getting there.

4. Tell us about a ‘sweet’ moment in your life recently that filled you with joy, gratitude, or peace.

Hmm, this shouldn’t be tough but it is. I guess a few weeks ago I was feeling stressed and my husband gave me a hug and assured me everything would be alright. This seems like something people might think a husband always does but no, I don’t think that’s true. In my opinion, most men aren’t entirely aware of others’ emotional pressures so it was a big deal for him to do that.

5. When you were a child, what did you want to ‘be’ when you grew up? How close did you come to that?

To be honest, I never really knew. I leaned towards teacher or something with History and sadly, I did end up teaching. I don’t necessarily regret it but I wish I had some other kind of desire for a higher paying career. I did want to be a writer but I never finish anything. Lately, I’ve been thinking real estate might be cool to get into. I know it would be weird to switch careers at 46 but hey, it can be done. I have a cousin who was a stay at home mom until maybe 8 years ago and she’s now in real estate. I hear she’s terrible at it but if she can do it, maybe I can!

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I am not going to say too much bet suffice today, so far, today has been very fraught with strife…and it’s only 9 o’clock! I am off to do some praying.

  1. My hubs got his real estate license post-retirement from a 30+ year career in something unrelated, so it’s definitely do-able. If you want to do something different it’s not too late. Hoping your day has improved. Prayer helps with our sense of peace even if circumstances don’t change. Enjoy the long weekend coming your way!

  2. “…sadly, I did end up teaching”- tough job, for sure!

Real estate does seem to attract former stay-at-home-moms. I’ve known people who’ve done well at it and also some who’ve totally bombed. I hope your prayers are answered!

  3. Your life does sound quite a whirlwind!I could just eat toast with peanut butter, banana slices, and honey now!Sending love and hugs. I hope life is less stressful soon.

  4. You cracked me up with the honey from the bear reference and wanting to write for a living but not finishing anything! I used to want to be a writer as well. However, while I think I can write decently, in terms of penning my thoughts and basic, general writing, I don’t have the creativity for fiction so I know couldn’t write a novel or anything. Which is too bad because I’d love to :). You have so much going on- I’m sure it’s comforting to know how s supported and loved you are by your husband. It’s at the busy times that I can’t imagine doing any of it alone!
