A to Z Challenge – Day 9

I is for Illumination

I went with this today because it came to mind first, though in this sense:

i.e. intellectual or spiritual enlightenment.

I love learning new things. I am often watching youtube videos that are of an educational ilk. I watch stuff about the ancient world, historical events, and even Lord of the Rings stuff. I follow an entire channel where they ask questions such as “Exactly when did Gandalf know the ring was THE ring?”

There’s something fascinating to me about learning something I never knew before or delving into an angle on something I perhaps took for granted. I always say “you learn something new every day” and I guess on a subconscious level, I am looking for that. It’s not always some big revelation; it could be a very small fact or something about myself, even that comes to light.

I am grateful for the world of knowledge at my fingertips; I’d never go so far as to say I’m thankful for the internet because though that entirety of knowledge is housed there, the internet itself is a blessing and a curse. So in the end, I am grateful for learning wisdom every day.

  1. Good “I” word!

I think we enjoy learning more as we become older. I enjoyed doing well in school and college, but even then, it was a means to an end. Now it’s about learning new stuff for the sake of knowing.

  2. I agree with everything you said! I like to learn new things and am grateful that the internet has made it so easy to access information to learn new things so easily and readily.

  3. I enjoy learning new things too. I wish I remembered more of what I learned. I wish I’d paid better attention in history classes too. The internet definitely has its down side, but it’s great to be able to just look something up and get the answers to questions about absolutely anything.
