Thursday 13 – Go away

  1. Is it awful I was ready for my husband to go back to work today? It feels like we’ve all been home on break FOREVER and while we did do a few things, like a new front door lock, I think for the most part we’ve been sednetary.
  2. Well, some of us more than others; I’ve been cleaning and running and cooking and doing the errands. Everyone else pitches in at various times for a short amount of time. Sigh.
  3. Can you tell that irritates me? Much like my oldest getting up – gasp! – early but then coming downstairs and asking if I’ll make him bacon. Which I do, of course, but then while I’m cooking he has the audacity to sit in my new chair. He interrupted my morning time! As we all know, you shouldn’t block a mom from her morning coffee/reading time.
  4. And NOW my husband asks if we can have lunch together but I had a plan – which I told him – that consists of getting Fresh Market 5 dollar sushi with my oldest and my daughter’s running reward: the meal of her choice. Luckily we worked it out but now I feel bad.
  5. I am sitting here on the phone with Lee County Toll Services because they caught someone not paying a bridge toll (FYI – Lee County is where Ft. Meyers is, which is like, 8 hours from where I live) and the photo of their plate is one letter off from my license plate. So somehow their crappy AI program read it wrong and sent me the 5 dollar bill. I tried to call before Christmas but couldn’t get anyone so now I have to wait. I’m not paying for someone else’s infraction!
  6. OK, mission accomplished; got a very nice lady who could obviously see the plate in the photo was not mine.
  7. I also called Shula’s to make a reservation. While they are not open, I thought they might have a line since it’s in the Hotel Duval. Ash won his money fantasy league and said he’d take everyone out to eat! I am kind of excited and I know the kids are. We’ve been there but they have not because, well, it’s expensive!
  8. Ugh; I need to get my morning run in but it’s 38. Yesterday was 48, which is a huge difference. I didn’t put on any additional clothing at all but today, I would need to.
  9. My daughter got a vanity for Christmas (I wanted to get a small table top thing but Ash went over the top) but she had to clean her room before he builds it. I wish I could fully explain how awful her room was! This child just doesn’t see how to properly keep a space clean. Neither did her older brother and he’s much better now so there is hope.
  10. My dad brought us some Eagle Rare (bourbon) and you know, it was good but I don’t see the value in hunting down something hard to find then paying twice as much as my typical staple (Buffalo Trace). I feel like people are getting a bit too bougie for me.
  11. I have totally ignored work work for a while now, since classes are off but I know soon enough, I’ll have to get back to it. And if I got the FSU job, I won’t really know until at least mid-January so there’s a lot up in the air right now.
  12. I finally saw the movie La La Land. I remember it coming out and not really caring about it but I did enjoy it, to an extent. It wasn’t amazing but worth a watch.
  13. OK, I’m off to get ready to run; don’t want to but so be it!

  1. My hubs has a large Bourbon collection. Both my sons-in-law also enjoy bourbon and all three of them love to talk about bourbon. My hubs favorite is Weller. I’m not a bourbon drinker, but I also wonder if it’s having a moment and people will move to other things. For a while it was wine and now it feels like everyone is talking bourbon. Hopefully your daughter will be motivated to get organized so she can enjoy that new vanity. Its a fair deal. And no, nobody should disrupt mom’s morning coffee hour. I’m going to have my grands here later this month and I know we won’t get our very long leisurely coffee mornings hubs and I have come to enjoy. I’m excited though to have them moving back stateside so I won’t complain. Have a nice weekend!

  2. I hope your run was good! The motivation to run in cold weather can be daunting but I love the feeling of feeling my body warm up as I run in the cold. Hopefully you experience something similar! Glad you’ve kept moving during the break; I know for me it’s important for my mental and physical health. I hope your restaurant experience is a great one for your family. How fun to win the money for the meal out!! I won some money New Years Eve with friends playing Left Right Center. I was so excited to win!!

    1. Yeah I don’t do money leagues anymore because of the stress but in this case, it worked out for him. In the end, yesterday’s run was a bust: I went to take my first step and had a shooting pain in my ankle. I guess it’s because of the repeated days. So I rode my bike while my daughter ran.

  3. Happy New Year!

I was ready for my husband to go back to work, and myself as well. When the kids were home, I was REALLY ready for school to start up again. Running in the upper 30’s sounds heavenly, but I’ll pass on running in Florida summer!
