- I haven’t been “to work” since last Tuesday and it feels weird to know I will today. I guess I did say that in my classes last week – that we’d probably reconvene in one week. I was right. Now I actually have to plan what to talk about!
- I’ve noticed that it seems a lot darker in the mornings. However, the sun seems to be going down earlier now too and I’m bothered by the fact that I don’t feel entirely “aware” of what season we are in and where the sun is. I guess I have been too busy with other things that the kinds of stuff I used to pay attention to is being pushed to the back burner.
- On that note, is it really October? I feel like it just turned August a second ago! We are two months into school, essentially, and moving along at a quick pace. Cross Country is almost over as well; last week’s 5th meet got canceled due to the storm-that-wasn’t and now, her final one is Wednesday. Granted, there’s one, maybe two, that are invitationals and for now, she is running the race on the 11th. I’m not ready for this season to be over yet, to be honest. While it takes up a good chunk of each Wednesday, I do love XC season. It’s just way too short.
- She did say she wanted to try out for track in the spring so maybe that will be a thing for us in the future. Though, I cannot think that far ahead right now!
- So, originally, we were looking at Ash having to travel for work at the end of this week, then all next week but now, due to the storm, they’ve canceled. This is normal for the state because of budget reasons. They cancel “unnecessary” travel to reallocate funds. He thinks now, he may not do the big conference in November.
- I don’t know how I feel about that because we had planned a weekend family trip off of it. He’d already have a hotel so we were going to book two extra nights and do stuff in Orlando. If it doesn’t happen, we’ll probably skip it entirely. I was kind of looking forward to some kind of little getaway though. I keep thinking back to last fall’s quick Helen, GA trip and thinking that was really nice. It would be especially nice now, given how busy everyone is. And my oldest is always working so we don’t get to spend any kind of quality family time together.
- Fair to say, I’ve already started thinking about Christmas and spending so maybe it was for the best? We already told the kids that it could be a thin holiday because we have a lot of stuff planned for 2025. They might get a couple major gifts but not a lot else!
- OK, one more random thought: we watched a movie from 1980 named Carny yesterday and it was…not too bad. I’d actually recommend it, crazy as that is. But it definitely made me want to go to the fair. We may not go this year since we did last and the kids have not mentioned it. But who knows? We may still decide to!

I will ask my husband if he has seen that movie. He loves 80´s movies. If he hasn´t seen it, we will check it out. So you had classes and things canceled because it was assumed that your area would be heavy hit? I can kind of understand that but at the same time wouldn´t it suffice to say things are canceled… unless the hurricane does not impact us and if it doesn´t, we will do the activities?
Oh lord they always overreact here. They canceled classes from Wednesday on and we didn’t even hardly get rain.
Carny sounds familiar, but 1980 was SO long ago. Okay, I looked up the trailer – never heard of it. Such a young Jodie Foster!
Mornings are definitely darker… and colder. This morning, we were 40F. Not quite ready!
What? That’s freezing! LOL. And yeah, the movie was funky but not unwatchable.
Sunrise is significantly later now than it was a month ago. Official sunrise here is after 7:30 and sunset is 7:20. Yours will be different because you’re further South.
