MMMM + A slightly less busy weekend

That’s right; we tried to keep it low key this weekend. In fact, we even canceled a couple things and I have zero regrets.

In my Friday post I walked about Brew Club; we had a whopping 25 people attend, which is huge, since we generally have about 10 fewer. A lot of the old timers seem to be making a come back and I can’t help but wonder if they stopped attending due to the people in charge before. I don’t mean to bad mouth them but they had made the club pretty boring. We try to make it fun and we got a couple of the older guys compliment Ash on his fun powerpoint slides. As my husband always says, “Fun is number one.”

Friday was mostly work for me but then Ash and I made steak and potatoes and then basically just sat on the couch and watched movies. The rain pretty much made us not want to go out, so we even skipped the movie theater Friday and Saturday! We’d booked times but didn’t feel like leaving the house.

We woke early Saturday, knowing there was a chance soccer was called off but his game took place; his field was turf and therefore, not shut down. They lost, sadly, but they also played against seniors; these kids are mostly freshmen, some sophomores. They made a good effort, considering. Here’s my son in the background then my son actually doing something.

Got home from the game and I was going to run but it was pouring! Funny thing is, his game was dry and the sun came out for a second AND it was cool. But then another torrential downpour. Sigh. So I went to get lunch stuff and then I ran. We had tacos then mostly just puttered around the house. Dakota ended up going to a friend’s house; Elliot had to work.

Sunday morning, Ash and I got up early and loaded up the bikes to hit St. Marks Trail. We did 15 miles and it was…ok. Better than I figured. We tried to hit under a five minute mile for most of it. Luckily the trail is pretty flat, overall. Next weekend we might try to do one that is a bit hillier, but it depends if I can get my gravel tires before then. We’re probably taking it in today; we’ll see. My goal is to get a lot of work work done so we can take lunch and then go to the bike shop.

The rest of Sunday included football watching, lasagna eating, and laundry. We also showed the boys Unbreakable, which was as bad as I remember it being but Isaac was affected by it. He was worried someone could break into our house and yeah, bad things do happen. It’s why we trained them to be cautious and aware!

We go through phases with actors and we’ve been trying to watch Burt Reynolds flicks lately. Sadly, I don’t think he’s ever been in anything truly great. Saturday afternoon, we did watch Smokey and the Bandit so in honor, that’s what I’m sharing today.

  1. No he was mostly in comedies, but they were fun. I thought he was a stitch in Best Little Whorehouse. But you are forgetting Deliverance, I think. Arguably his best. Scary thing.

  2. The Smokey and the Bandit film brings back memories. I watched it in the theatre which means I’m old. The movie music was popular too. It was played on the radio often.

Sitting on the sofa after a nice, juicy steak sounds like a good way to spend the evening to me. Glad y’all could rest. 💙

  3. Oh yeah, soccer games on turf happen unless there´s a thunderstorm. Glad you got to run. I loved running in the rain, though I did have to be careful that there weren´t also storms. Bike riding sounds, fun, too!

  4. Sounds like you had a nice mix of exercise, work, family, and relaxation. We were supposed to have a rainy weekend but it never really materialized. We need it! We had crazy wind all weekend though. Have a good week!

  5. Happy that you got some rest. Even this weekend would have exhausted me. Enjoyed the music-Jerry Reed was a heck of a guitar player. I don’t think there’s a song of his I have heard and didn’t like. Alana ramblinwitham
