Hey all, I typically do just 5 random thoughts but let’s do this one as well! I’ll complain in my Friday 5 but my faves will be positive.
- Can this rain go away now? I’m over it entirely! We got a brief reprieve yesterday afternoon from about 3-4 when the sun finally came out, but today, it’s back to dark and drizzly. (Which sounds like either a sweet coffee drink or a donut but when it comes to weather, me no likey.)
- I’m a little stressed about my run tomorrow and subsequent 15 mile bike ride Sunday. I am sure I can do it; I have biked plenty. But I have not been doing it lately so there’s that. I am sure I’ll be really glad when it is over.
- Our schools around here have been the victim of a lot of threats lately, but the problem is knowing if they’re real or not. They seem AI generated, if we are being honest. The one was pretty junky looking and it named kids by first name only, and they were not “real” names. Like, someone named elvis (lowercase only). So I am torn. A lot of kids are skipping school but then, is that just fear taking over? I don’t even know what to think.
- This rain is giving me the worst sinus headache. I just want to crawl back in bed and hide.
- Alas, I have SO much work to do and a zoom meeting with someone from one of my colleges. I am definitely not looking forward to it but also, I’ll be glad to get it over with.
OK, now favorites!
Early in the week I made myself salads: arugula, cucumbers, mushrooms, sweet peppers, steak two of the days and chicken the other. I added some goat cheese too. Sorry no photos but man, those were the best!
Someone from Isaac’s soccer team took photos and I love this one; his face! Not flattering but hey, he’s taking that header like a champ.,
OK so I committed to using the trainer bike and it wasn’t so bad. This was Wednesday:
Dakota, as mentioned, got a good time at her XC meet the other night. I was so proud! 15:32 was her final time and I added it to my ongoing list of all the kids’ times and you know, the boys had times that were worse. Only a handful of time did that happen to them but still; she did great! Girls are, on average, slower than the boys’ teams so, yay!
We “took over” the homebrew club about two years ago. I.e. the old guard left/got voted out and we became the committee running it. Me, my husband, our treasurer, a new VP and secretary. At that time, we had about 12-15 people attending on average. Last night we had 25! We’ve gained about 6 new members this year and last night, some old timers came back! I’m talking, folks that were brewing in the 80s and 90s. I consider this a huge win!
OK that’s all the favorites I had for this week. Have a great weekend everybody!

The rain is nice but it does get tiresome after awhile. It’s slacked off here. For now, anyway. Long enough to start on our Living Room project again. The wall behind the TV will be a version of shiplap and we’re staining the boards in the covered carport a whitewash color. We had to wait for the air to be a bit drier. I think this new ‘feature’ wall is going to look so good when finished! But, golly, it’s a lot of work on these old bones.
So sorry to hear about the sinus headache. Could it also be this ragweed in bloom right now? I was going to suggest something I do: I ‘wash’ my sinuses out twice a day with warm salt water. Yeah, I know, it feels like you’re going to drown but really it does work. The salt dries out the mucus. Makes me breathe so much easier. Some folks use a Neti pot but I’m too cheap to buy one. *lol* Give it a go if you haven’t already. Hope it helps. Have fun on your run! 💙
We need some of that rain! We are in a downright drought here and there is no end in sight. Love that soccer picture! I have captured some ¨unique¨ facial expressions while photographing soccer games. Congrats to Dakota for improving and having such a good race time. Have a great weekend!
Ugh to the rain! I am so over it here too. It always seems to rain when I need to go out but then is dry the whole time I am home.
I hope the run and bike ride went well.
