- Apparently, the leftover rain from the hurricane is all over us today so it’s icky out. It was only overcast yesterday – which lead to a generally cooler day – but now it’s gross. Of course it is – on a day I have to go out. Ugh. I teach today and I kind of have to go.
- I once had this issue with my eye twitching (years ago) so I did research and the answer seemed to be some kind of iron deficiency so I ate a kale salad with steak and it cleared up. Well, it flared up last week so the last three days I’ve had a salad with dark greens and steak. It’s still twitching. Ugh.
- When I was skipping work on Tuesday, I went to the grocery store and I noticed that while it is still pretty warm in Florida, there’s just something different about the atmosphere right now. There’s a different hue outside that is not like summer. Fall might actually be coming!
- I almost went and got a Pedi, which I badly need, but then I felt bad because the other day I took the old chipped paint off and repainted them. Why waste it, you know?
- We made the decision to skip drinking only on days with no football. I like this plan! Mostly because days with football are longer drinking days. We might drink lighter beers – but for longer during the day. Monday and Tuesday were a break and I already feel lighter. I realize that going cold turkey would probably solve a lot of my weight issues but hey, you also have to focus on happiness, right? Beer makes me happy.
- Dakota FINALLY got a time she could be proud of in a cross country meet. She had the same training as the boys did and has been faster, generally, than them in races she did with my husband. When she was 8, she participated in an invitational (at the venue where three of her meets are held) and hit a 17:38 time for 1.8 miles. But then her first two meet times this season were…less than stellar (about 18 and 19 minutes, respectively). But yesterday, she came flying out of the gates and crushed it with a 15:32 time. Boy were we proud! That’s the kind of time I knew she could get!
- I have been thinking about the aesthetic of “cozy fall” lately. I know that once this rain clears out, it’ll probably be cooler out. In fact, all of our lows for the next ten days are under 70. For Florida, this is fantastic! I’m so ready for a dry cool evening to sit outside or take a walk.
- I pray that my classes go smoothly and quickly today; I’m not much feeling like “working”. LOL. As I walked away from the car after taking my daughter to practice, I was stricken by overwhelming thankfulness that I even could do that. If I were still at the House, there would be no exceptions for being late.
- On that note, my boss from that job got told to move to another position, just out of the blue. Apparently everyone was shocked. It wasn’t really a demotion either – just another committee – but it’s the fact he had no forewarning whatsoever. Government is stupid like that.
- Back to working from home: it IS a lot to keep track of and there are lots of distractions. However, I have also been here before so it’s not like my first rodeo. I am trying to be a lot more organized now with everything.
- Really looking forward to brew club tonight. I appreciate drinking beer a whole lot more when I haven’t been, seems like.
- I was “on” today in class; sometimes I trip over words and even with notes, my lessons are disjointed at best. But I feel like both my morning classes flowed well and gave them good advice.
- I had about 17/25 in my first two classes; making a bet with myself that my last class at 2 may only have 15. But you never know; they have surprised me so far!
My eye twitches due to stress and lack of sleep. Congrats to your daughter – way to go on that time!!
The remnants of the Hurricane are all over us too in SE Georgia. I like a rainy day. So, we’re staying inside working inside on a “minor remodel” in the Living Room. It’s gonna look so good when we’re done.
Government is always stupid because it has so many stupid people in it (not you). I’ve worked for them. I know. As quickly as possible I moved on to the private sector. I never looked back. 💙
