MMMM + Busy weekend and it ain’t getting any less!

I have always done a weekend recap post so I love this BUT I am finding it harder and harder to remember what all we did!

Let’s see… Friday I did work on my courses and panicked a little that I had not heard back from the associate dean at this one college about meeting to discuss resources, etc. Luckily he finally did email me and we have a zoom later today. Anyway, Ash and I met a friend for lunch and then we went to Total Wine. I want to say I did a bit of laundry before we sat down to watch a cheesy 80s sword and sorcery type movie. As was the norm last week, something went awry with the bus refueling stations and Dakota’s bus was, of course, one of the ones that had issues. I ended up picking her and her friend/neighbor up 3 days in a row. And sadly, it looks like it’ll be the same today.

She had to be home because she got picked up around 5 to head to the lake with her friends. Meanwhile, Elliot was working so Isaac was the only kid home. We’d started rewatching Thor Thursday night so we finished that one with him. All in all, a nice evening.

On Saturday, I managed to get myself going early: laundry, grocery shopping, and watching the first games of the new Premier League season. I love soccer! We worked on various projects, like fixing the mailbox door, then by 2:45, left for our friend’s baby shower/bbq. I think we met Nick and his wife about two years ago when they moved here from New Jersey. Ash is in his fantasy football league and they’ve run together, as Nick is a huge runner. The party was pretty fun, with some interesting folks. We were by far the oldest people there but hey, that’s ok.

We did not intend to get home as late as we did but I am pretty sure it was close to 9. I know for sure I fell asleep not long after that.

Sunday we had to get stuff done early because we were headed to Gainesville. Elliot got right up and mowed since he had to work at 9, then Isaac followed and got his yard done. We left town by 10 so we could drive the two hours to the swamp. (I kid; I know UF people hate Tally the way we think of Gainesville as a swamp.) Ash and I ate beforehand at Crafty Bastard, since we’d been before. They have a solid burger and a good beer selection. My neck looks bad in this photo but everyone shares so many pics, I feel like I should.

We headed to our event after: a “tasting adventure” run by a couple guys from the Gainesville homebrew club. Theirs is gigantic compared to ours, as they have almost 200 members. Granted, it’s probably the same 30 or so who do everything but still, much larger. There were about 20 people at this one so that was cool. Essentially, they prepped these containers of things you’d typically find in both beer and whisky and we smelled and tasted then sampled drinks to try and pinpoint those flavors in there.

When it was over, they did a little potluck (surprise surprise, I brought deviled eggs!) and we headed out and got home around 8:30 or so. By then Dakota had been home from the lake a couple hours and was recovering from all the fun and sun! She and I caught up and she went to bed, then Ash and I did a rewatch of Alien, since we are going to the new one tonight.

This week is going to be crazy busy! Movie tonight, then tomorrow, Isaac starts soccer so, evening practice. Ash has a fantasy draft so we’ll be headed to a pizza place around 7:30 for that. Wednesday we have the work league draft at Amicus at 4. Thursday Isaac has practice and we have brew club EC meeting. It’s a lot every night! Thankfully, we don’t have anything Friday and Saturday. Sunday, we’re finally having Dakota’s actual birthday party. Here’s a pic of my daughter kneeboarding and that about does it!

Today is a freebie. I told you I’ve been throwing myself back into Buffy and specifically, her and Spike so here’s this fan video. The song itself – I’m pretty sure -was used in an episode but for years I have loved it. So this is my offering today.

  1. Your weekend sounds busy and full of fun things! I hope everything goes well this week with soccer starting and all the things. Have a great Monday!

  2. Phew you’re so busy ….mind you we had three boys and my hubby had to work away a lot so I guess I was just as busy….

Your photo with Ash is great nothing wrong with your neck . I liked the video from Buffy I loved that program.

Did you like True Blood another good one plus a great theme

Enjoy the rest of your week ☺️

  3. WOW, what a busy weekend as usual! I enjoyed the episodes where bad boy Spike falls for Buffy and becomes a champion for good. Great song pick! Have a boogietastic week and thanks for joining the party, dearie.

      1. Yes so true. We all need to believe that no one is so far gone that they can’t find their way back to the light!

  4. Looks and sounds like a busy, but fun weekend! 🙂 Yay – soccer’s back! Hubby especially, (he’s Italian), was excited to watch his first Serie A game on Saturday. ⚽ I’ve never watched Buffy, but I like the song. Hope your busy week goes well!

  5. You definitely need to post pics of yourself. I’m obsessed with the lines on my neck in this season, but it is what it is lol. I don’t actually notice them until I get on facetime with my girls and then I can’t stop talking about them. We like soccer too and enjoy watching the games. My grandsons are going to play this term while they’re in the UK and I told my daughter they will probably come back with some skills. It’s everyone’s favorite there! Have a nice week. It sounds like a mostly fun kind of busy.

  6. Once again, I am exhausted after reading about your weekends. But it will get better one day; it really will. Soccer is certainly becoming more and more popular here in the United States and it’s great exercise. The song was new to me. Alana ramblinwithm
