- On Wednesday morning, as the kids and I pulled out of the driveway to leave for camp, we spied a rather shady looking character walking on the other side of the road. He was stumbling and looked lost. Later, I got a text from my neighbor asking if he knocked on our door. According to the cameras, no. So they posted to NextDoor about it and some idiot had the gall to tell me he was a salesman because of the badge around his neck; she said what I noted about his behaviour was unwarranted. Ok, lady, this dude was stumbling down the road and only rang one doorbell. He was no salesman! I love that app because it just breeds arguments. People want that, I think.
- Between just being busy and the afternoon/evening rain this week, I have not run, but I kept wanting to. I have got to get back on some kind of schedule for that. Once or twice a week is really not enough. And I am tired of feeling like I’m stalled out in both working out and eating. I’ve been pretty good about eating windows and the foods I’m eating but I know I need to be better.
- I’ve been trying to stay out of the news loop, because the longer you look at stuff, the more your start to believe we might be living in a simulation; nothing is real. And I don’t want to be that person; I want to go back to the times when I felt like I was unaware of political BS. Sadly, I don’t think that’s our world anymore. I hope there comes a day when maybe America is a little more like it used to be but maybe that was all illusion too; I don’t know.
- On the agenda for the weekend is: cleaning house, cleaning pool (my guy is out of town for his son’s baseball tournament), a brew club event/summer party at my house, then nothing. I don’t have plans Sunday. I’ll probably make tacos or spaghetti and Ash might install the new blackout curtain rod. We have a 127 inch screen and projector system in the living room and daytime viewing is rough. He bought an electric track that will close said curtains and it comes today.
- To finish on a happy note, Deadpool and Wolverine was as awesome as I had hoped. I enjoyed Deadpool 1 but the second movie was dumb. This one really did make me happy; it even had all these different Wolverine versions and for those of us who read the comics back in the day, it warmed the heart. They even had Madripoor Patch! That’s an obscure one. The only thing I wish they’d shown was when he was traveling with Jubilee. I have a soft spot for that relationship but hey, you can’t get everything you ever wanted.
ETA – Fun fact about me: when the first X-Men movie came out in 2000, I had it big time for Hugh Jackman. So much that I literally joined a forum where people did tape trading – yes, VHS! – and I got a couple of his obscure Australian movies. Man, times were so much simpler back then!

No question about it: we are living in a simulation. I think Scott Adams (the creator ogf Dilbert, whose podcast I listen to on and off) believes the same thing. I personally think that there are infinite universes, each one representing a time when God said “geez, I really f—ed that one up; I’d better try again.” And when you die, you are moved to a different one, either better or worse than the one you were in, depending on whether you were good or bad.
Interesting take! I often ponder these profound ideas but the end result is always: I’ll never know so I’d better enjoy living now!
I was just saying to someone I don’t like who I am when I watch too much news. I try to get just enough to know what’s going on, but not so much I have nightmares about the direction we’re headed. Enjoy your weekend!
I sometimes look at Nextdoor when I’m bored. I think people who comment on there just like to stir things up.
I haven’t been to the movies in a long time, but Deadpool and Wolverine is beckoning!
