MMMM + Wow, nice weekend!

Oh y’all, such a good weekend! In fact, if it weren’t for the fact that I have a lot to do before leaving for vacation later this week, I would totally not want to be at work. But let us return to Friday…

…I worked until about 12:30 then went to the store for a couple items. Picked up one sushi roll and a salad, shoveled that in, then I had an online interview. It was a re-interview for a previous job that they had to rework. I get on the call and the recruiter said they literally just offered it to someone. Sigh. BUT, he had another position in mind – as a trainer. With my writing and teaching background, I’m kind of good for it. We’ll see. He’s going to push me through to his superiors then perhaps set up a subsequent interview. Kind of funny because my Friday positive vibes calendar literally said something to the effect of: “One thought: I didn’t get the job I wanted. Another thought: I’ll try again confident the right job will come my way.” Kind of crazy right?

Once that obligation was done, I began on laundry and went outside to sit in the sun. One of my boys came out then he convinced his brother to do so, then I watched them battle it out for king of pool basketball.

We didn’t have anything to do until 7 so I picked my daughter up from camp, made dinner for kids, and I believe we watched a movie but can’t remember which one. At 7 we had a scotch tasting. It was with a couple guys we’ve met through beer judging.

They do it in person too but this one was virtual. It was us, the guy on the screen, one other guy, and one other couple. It was pretty cool; I’m more of a bourbon person but we learned a lot.

Saturday was reserved for getting all the rest of my laundry done and some other chores. Well, ok, and running. I have been going 2 miles on the weekends but I decided to push it to 3 – and on a hilly route. It was hard but I did it and felt really good. I also haven’t weighed myself in a while since we aren’t hardcore keto and all that as much so I was holding strong at this one weight that, to be honest, did not make me happy. It was 5 pounds heavier than what I would like. So I went ahead and stepped on, after my run, and I was actually 2 pounds lighter. I had given myself leeway to be 3 pounds heavier. So yeah, that was nice.

Isaac went with me to Walmart and we also stopped at the farmer’s market and got jalapenos and peaches. Got home and Ash was biking and watching Jack with Elliot. Made lunch for the kids then by 1, we were on the road to our friends’ lake house.

The last couple times we went it was our friend, Chris’s, grandma’s place but this time, it was his wife’s parents’, which is about 4 houses down from theirs. They have a little more of a flat yard so that was good for football and frisbee.

There was a lot of dock jumping at first and some other various activities. I brought a very basic charcuterie everyone liked. Once the rest of the family got there we got the boat and rode what people affectionately call “the couch.”

The boys did it too and we probably went around that lake 20 times. At a point, we added a tube on there and Elliot did it. Isaac was afraid he’d fall off, which is pretty normal and Elliot fell off twice. I did tubing exactly once last visit and no thanks. LOL. The couch was pretty fun though. We did that later in the day.

We made burgers and hot dogs and had a great time. The resident jet ski was being worked on so Elliot was a little disappointed but Nick went and got his uncle’s and the neighbor kid, Scooter, let him drive it. Ell drove one once before when he was 14 so this was a different experience. He was really glad that it happened though!

As the day wore on, we just sort of hung about. The kids played and it was a really nice time. The water was much warmer than I expected and as the kids played and jumped, the adults lazed about. very relaxing.

We didn’t even get home until about 10:30! Ell drove home and Isaac navigated. I wanted them to work together and they did. We sat in the back and drifted off a bit. I definitely got a lot of sun and I too jumped in a lot. It was overwhelming for me, I guess, because I was exhausted.

Sunday I got up and cleaned a little because my parents were coming. They had stayed overnight in a hotel on their way back from down south. Luckily they were able to see Elliot before he went to work. We visited a while, I made tacos, and they left a little bit after. Dakota had a friend over in the afternoon to swim and Isaac was gone until about 8, hanging out with neighborhood boys, shooting their gel blaster guns. I started not feeling so great around 8:30. Just tired and a little cough-y, but I feel good this morning so, who knows?

Since it’s a freebie week, I want to share this song because it’s one from this artist I had never heard! I will also share one of his I love.

  1. What a fun time at the lake! I hope you hear something soon on the job front (wouldn´t it be so nice to hear something before you go on vacation?). Have a great Monday!

  2. Ok that lake time looks sooo wonderful and inviting- I just want to dive right into your pictures- ha! What a great weekend 🙂

  3. Barry Manilow: gotta love him. Still out there making music even though his day has come and gone, and still putting his heart and soul into it. When a great songwriter like Johnny Mercer liked him and left his unfinished songs for Barry to finish, that tells you something. Love that first song, and like you I had never heard it before.

  4. The job situation will work out in the end, so try to not stress too much. God has a plan! 😉 Y’all had some good weather over the weekend with lots of outdoor fun. If I lived in Florida, then a pool would be a must have! I don’t remember the first Barry Manilow song for some reason. Barry has such a listenable voice. Thanks for joining the party and have a boogietastic week, my dear!

  5. Looks like a great day at the lake! I don’t tube anymore either, but someone has to be the spotter, right? Enjoy your vacay whether or not you’ve heard about a job. Things will work out so relax and have fun with your family and your travels!

  6. love your pool and that cottage view is beautiful. You are lucky. You are lucky to run and doo all you do. I’m quite crippled up today and it sucks:) it’s in the genes so cherish all you can do. Barry was huge in the 70s but have to hand it to him that he keeps going.

  7. I could have used a lake (or pool) yesterday, at least before the storms started. I had never heard the first Manilow song. The second one was one of my favorites. In fact, almost all his hits are favorites. Good luck on the continued job search. Alana ramblinwitham

  8. Lovely pool and lake views! Sounds like you had a busy but fun weekend. 🙂 I hope everything works out well on the job front.

Haven’t heard a Barry Manilow song in ages! That first one was new to me and I thought it was pretty good. The second one brought back a few memories.
