Friday Five – OK, the heat finally got me

  1. Yesterday was the first day since our suite’s AC went out that I couldn’t handle it. The portable units seemed to be working fine and I was comfortable; definitely not cold like I usually am. But then it was super warm and I started to feel nauseous. I left the office with a headache and just felt super out of it. I cannot figure out why they haven’t let us work from home yet. It’s summer; there’s no work to be done. Come on! I got in today and it’s even warmer so that’s no fun.
  2. We rewatched Tremors the other night and you know, it was better than I remember. Pretty sure we did a re-watch in 2020 but I barely remember it, for some reason. What I like is how they build each character to be unique. This is something sorely missing from any new ensemble movies, I think.
  3. That same night, Ash and I took a walk once the kids went to sleep. We smoked a cigar while walking, which seems sort of counterproductive but since we got into them recently, we always forget to do it. LOL. Sounds crazy, I know. But since it had rained and all the patio furniture was wet, as well as it would probably have been mosquito-y, this just made more sense. It was nice, actually, to stroll later at night. I enjoyed it, as opposed to sitting in my hot office with no window. It can be so oppressive each day.
  4. We again took a long walk last night; 4 miles. It’s already pretty warm in Florida so we left around 9 and got back a little before 10:30. Felt good to do, honestly. As we walked, we discussed getting back on the weight loss train. We were so good there for a while and of course, as soon as everything seemed good, it got easy to be lazy and careless. So it’s time to get back to the apple cider vinegar/lemon drink in the morning, the beef/bison and veg meals, the consistent walks. It works but you have to keep up with it. I honestly think it has a lot to do with your gut biome. Do some research on that; it’s super interesting. On this same healthy note, I used to drink multiple cups of coffee a day (years ago) but for maybe the past 5-7, just 2 smaller sized ones. I recently, in the past 6 months, started doing one cup most days but have been doing 2 cups the past few weeks. Well, I began to have this weird twitch just above my upper lip and under the center of my nose. So in some research, they suggested too much caffeine. I’m having just one from now on to see if it works and if not, well, it’s something else!
  5. Later tonight, we’re probably going down to the arts district for a fundraiser thing. The Railroad Square area got hit hard by those three tornadoes we had about a month ago so tonight is their first First Friday since then. Our friend knows the guy who runs the pinball place so he invited us to go out for it. Might be pretty fun; I think it’s 5 bucks all you can play. They’re all on free play anyway. Should be pretty fun! Especially since we can BYOB. πŸ™‚ Have a good weekend everyone!

  1. Another busy week. You need to complain again about that AC at work. It sounds to me that your bosses are very uncaring. I hope you guys are making them aware of your discomfort.

    1. Well, to be fair, the sergeants and maintenance guys are in here arranging these portable units. I think something is very wrong with the general AC and it’s not easily fixable. I appreciate that they’re at least trying!

  2. That fundraiser sounds fun! ItΒ΄s also so much easier to justify spending money on things when itΒ΄s for a good cause (eg I LOVE silent auctions for charity!). I hope your weekend is nice and cool! (IΒ΄m sure it will be inside your ACΒ΄d home. Outside is another matter, altogether!)

  3. Keeping yourself in “ketosis” is the only way to keep the weight off. I like the sound of your regime. Haven’t tried the cider vinegar & lemon drink. Might wanna go that route meself. We have lime I wonder if that’ll work the same. So far I’ve lost and kept off 45 pounds but I can’t cheat or it’s all for naught. My health was heading straight for diabetes and I do NOT want to be a diabetic. Even my joints feel better not eating sugar/carbs.

I hope the A/C at work is fixed soon. Maybe they need to simply remove the old one and start over. We had to do that here at the house a few years ago. That was a major ouch on the budget but it is so worth it.

Tremors is one of my favorite movies. I wish there was a PG version of it though where the language is cleaned up. I find cursing extremely distasteful but it’s probably because my father used it freely plus he was dangerously violent, so, there’s a lot of bad memories there. Scary dude. I rejoiced when he finally nastied away.

    Have a great weekend! πŸ’™

  4. I’m curious about the lemon/cider vinegar drink. I see people talking about it, but what’s the recipe? Is there a recipe? We have had such nice weather here recently. Normally the humid has kicked in by now, but so far it’s been really enjoyable.

    1. There IS a recipe, layered in this order in a shot glass: 1 tsp of lemon juice (I use Italian Volcanic), 2 tsp ACV, fill with COLD water. Drink. πŸ™‚
